I Like ItI Don’t Like It
Grassley

Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) has a brilliant plan for fixing the health care system: If you want quality coverage, "go work for the Federal government."

At least, that was the answer that Grassley offered up at a town hall meeting in Waukon, Iowa on Tuesday after a constituent asked the senator why he is unable to find good, affordable health insurance like the kind senators get.

Despite the fact that Grassley himself enjoys the benefits of the federal government's excellent public insurance policy, the senator has been avocal opponent of including a public option in any health care plan.

Grassley's stance, incidentally, flies in the face of the opinions of his own Iowa constituents, a majority of whom say they would like to see a public health insurance option.

After sharing his family's personal struggle with the burden of high health care costs, an audience member asked, "My question is... why is your insurance so much cheaper than my insurance and so better than my insurance?"

The question made Grassley cranky.

He responded, first, by suggesting the questioner "go work for John Deere," since they "don't pay anything" for their insurance plan.

When the questioner refused to let the senator wriggle out of answering the question, Grassley revealed how little he knew about his own insurance plan.

Another audience member had to help the senator out by describing the details of the plan. After she finished, the original questioner again asked, "Okay, so how come I can't have the same thing you have?"

Grassley's response: "You can. Just go work for the Federal government."

My husband worked for a large health insurance company from 2000 to 2004, they went bankrupt.

They main theme was DENY THE CLAIM, DENY THE CLAIM.

They went bankrupt because the CEO flew his wife's cat on a company jet..

The CEO started a interenet company, with company funds went belly up, he didn't even know how to check his e-mail. $200 million down the drain.

GREED< GREED< Greed

Iowans should be ashamed, and the several that I know are. These Senators do "represent" people whether we like it or not.

We need to have a single payer option -like our Senators and Congress get. Republicans say it will limit choice. It is exactly what is happening now. I am in a health plan with my employer but I did not have choice of physician. I had to choose from their list of "providers". That is what we are being told will happen if we have a single payer option. It is nothing more than the insurance industry wanting to keep premiums high. It is time for our leaders to stop taking big bucks from the Insurance industry. DEMAND SINGLE PAYER OPTION NOW.

Actually Congress does NOT have a "Single Payer" system.
I am a retired Federal employee and have had the same health care coverage as Congress for over 30 years. The government pays about 50% of the premium and I pay the rest. The premiums are paid to the typical "for-profit" HMOs or so-called Health Insurance companies. The profits involved are huge and these companies maintain the option to refuse specific treatments if they deem them unprofitable!
Don't be fooled into believing that the Federal Employee's Health Benefits plan is the answer.
It is simply a way to funnel tax money into the existing FOR-PROFIT health care machine.
We NEED a NOT for-profit, European Style Single Payer system.
PERIOD!!!!

Actually, the government pays quite a bit more than 50% of the premiums, but other than that you are correct. However, the CONGRESS has quite a bit better program, both because they pay a smaller percentage of their income, and because when the Congress is in session they have access to the Congressional doctor and Bethesda Naval Medical Center (the same place the President gets to go to!) etc....

MAIN STREET AMERICANS Urges Obama to put Single-Payer as his # 1 Priority!

Main Street Americans, strategizing yesterday with their leaders about health-care reform, complained that Obama and moderate groups ought to drop their attacks on Single-Payer Healthcare and devote their energy to promoting passage of comprehensive SINGLE-PAYER legislation.

It is time to see WHERE YOU STAND CHIEF!

How arrogant, coming from someone who has the best insurance available, paid for by people who have lousy insurance or no insurance at all. This is a fine example, of exactly how our elected government officials really feel about us. They deserve everything, we deserve scraps or nothing. We never cross their minds unless they are campaigning for money for reelection.

For those of you to dumb to understand. What he was saying here is the government does have the best health care. They don't have the government program but pay for the best through Insurance Companies and why it is the best is that you are paying for it. No matter what health care plan comes out it will never be as good as our great government gets.

Poopycock hogwash!! Grassley didn't even know his own insurance plan and yes his heath insurance is provided by the tax payers. But to tell a person he represents that they should go work for the Federal government to get good health insurance is down right spiteful. Grassley will be voted out of office and I hope soon.
