I Like ItI Don’t Like It

In this hilarious Dutch commercial, the perils of a hard-to-open cream can for your morning coffee are brutally exposed. This is the type of commercial that would never fly in America (there's brief nudity as well) and we're curious if this aired during the day in the Netherlands or perhaps only at night. Either way, your relationship with your mother-in-law will never be the same if you're as careless with your morning coffee as this husband.

It's not so much inappropriate (as the post points out, some countries show stuff like this late at night) as it is stupid. It's a bit of a stretch from morning coffee to "morning wood'.

Hmmmm.. Not sure how oral sex has to do with morning coffee really. That hard to open idea is a bit of a stretch.

Well, it certainly would redefine "the best part of waking up," now wouldn't it?

excellent commercial, too bad people from the US are so prudish and uptight, you people need to have more sex and stop feeling guilty about it afterward.

It goes back to the Puritans. Americans are repressed and like giggling 12 year olds when it comes to sex. Most never grow out of it because we have a dim awareness of the larger world.

As Morrissey wrote, "America Is Not The World".

It's not that all of us are prudish, it's that we're carrying the South and the other red-state havens of Puritan whackery and are left with a much lower score thanks that leavening effect.

I really do not see what is funny about it. It is not that inappropriate either. It is not even clever, and it was predictable. After that commercial, I just do not know why people would want to buy this product!

You're so right! In this day and age, people are STILL having sex! It's downright disgusting.

Way to teach children where women stand, eh? Mothers should write and say they will NEVER get a burger for their kids at that place again.

Yeah- I was horrified by the ad... I posted it here to illustrate the difference between "a little risque" and "inappropriate"

Wow, that's revolting. The Dutch one isn't offensive or belittling. It's simply a joke on coincidental timing and misunderstood situations. The BK one is down right horrific. Let's start sexualising children, why don't we!

See, I don't think this is funny. Just shocking, and not even really all that shocking. Maybe it's just me.

Remember back in the 70s and early 80s when you didn't hear you favorite music hawking product ?
It really started that Nike add using The Beatles song Revolution back in the mid/late 80s. Back then Everyone was really outraged that such an iconic song was being used to sell anything let alone sweatshop shoewear. 20 years later everyone expects it. Its not "selling out" its "buying in."
I miss the days when I could associate James Brown's ( or any artist's with a shred of self respect ) music with the James Brown memories of events in my life that his music brought to mind. Not some cream add. The fact that everyone is for sale on the cheap is so completely indicative of our culture as a whole. That being said the ad is kinda funny, although it would be better if Good forbid they hired someone to write music specifically for it. Grumble Grumble.

Exactly. Now some kids think James Browns music is corny music due to ads like this. My girlfriend thinks "Signed, Sealed, Delivered" by Stevie Wonder is corny TV commercial music, and undanceable, becasue she has no idea of the real relevance the record had.

Clever and entertaining, but could you imagine watching it 4 or 5 times during an hour long show, day after day, week after week, like our domestic ad campaigns?

I think the EU is just more liberal - The EU ad http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gFsQPfazBx0 for example - I just could not imagine seeing a US Government ad like that (unless I have been truly blind).
