There are two ways of looking at Sarah Palin's resignation. One involves an impending hidden looming scandal that forced her out of office to dodge serious consequences. The other involves her inability to handle the job, a series of meltdowns or breakdowns, and the draw of easy money.

I don't know which of those two is the cause, maybe both or some other scenario. The truth will come out in time but not from Sarah's lips.

Whatever the reason, this sudden departure and abdication of her duties and responsibilities will hang over her head like a dark cloud. Her opponents will stigmatize her as a quitter who can't handle public service and meager wages.

Sarah and Meg are lost forever in an alternate universe. Don't bother coming back.

Can private citizens have PACS??
01:33 PM on 07/10/2009
Yes but you have to know what you are doing and comply with IRS laws or else.

No Meghan, Sarah did go around them for an easy lay-up. What she did was take her ball and run away from the the game she signed up for.

And how dare you compare Sarah Palin to our troops, individuals who enlist for a set period of and fulfill their contracts.

She 'blinked' instead of 'progressing' Alaska.
01:32 PM on 07/10/2009
She gouged and stepped on Alaska for her greed and ambitions.

Thank God Palin didn't become our vice president. I could just see her saying "Goll, this job is too hard & ya all are being sooooo mean to me. I quit."

This has got to be the most bizarre political performance in our nation's history. The only thing that makes sense to me is that there is some impending scandal brewing, and she simply doesn't want to be in the public eye when it all comes out.

If you go on conservativesforpalin.com you'll see that her lawyer just posted a response to a possible pending indictment. He denounces it out right and in a lengthy explanation lays out why the home/sports complex construction deal was above board.

Me thinks they do protest too much!
01:51 AM on 07/05/2009
Probably true, but she will still be in the public eye when it happens. She is just to damn funny to leave alone.
03:12 PM on 07/04/2009
No Megan, She's not buckling under the pressure, she's quitting under the pressure.
03:04 PM on 07/04/2009
Yup ,,, just another women who quit before she finished, leaving claiming she is satisfied.

This women is self absorbed more interested in herself with no sense of responsibility or shame.

No, I think she is going to help Alaska finally secede from the Union.

It's amazing how people make up their own versions of what other people don't say. FauxNews, as usual, has their own incorrect spin.

If it is true that Alaska is spending thousands of hours then it is likely because they want to withhold legally required releasable material. Heck, in the last administration we failed to release material for years – because it was going to embarrass us.In regards to her familys costs for all this, the only time that she has to pay is when she has been charged with a criminal act or is under criminal investigation. Is she charged with that? No. And if she is then she can use her PAC. There are state attorneys who work with her office if her office activities are being scrutinized. Why would she lie about how much it has cost when the state has already issued a report that it is far less than millions of dollars? These exaggerations raise more questions about her honesty.

Okay I work for the government. I know that government receives inquires (under FOIA) all the time and yes, they do cost the GOVERNMENT something (however most times it is the same request made over and over again by different people or reporters so it's packaging already exists after the first time so the upfront research costs have already been paid ).
Also, if the requests are made and there is no public interest reason for them given (which can entitle the waiver of some of the costs) then there is an administrative charge that also includes research and copying costs. The requestor pays. Even the press may have to pay for some of the costs if they are onerous. It doesn’t cost the GOVERNOR herself anything – though she would have you believe it. It is my experience that many times the extra time spent with a request is when higher ups don’t want to release the releasable. They hate putting a smoking gun in someone’s hand despite that an open and transparent government is key to our democracy. Many times the requestor knows of the smoking gun and targets documents. This sends shivers down the government because of their desire to cover up known fraud waste and abuse and they don’t want to suffer the embarrassment of running a failed operation under their leadership.
