The esteemed Senator Espada is a ©riminal. Pure and simple.

He does not support gay marriage, he supports it's defeat, hence his desire to bring the vote to the floor now. He owes his soul to his new billionaire friend, so we had better look at Mr. Golisano's priority list to see what's in store for us...

That soul was first owed by the New York State Senate President And Majority Leader Malcolm A. Smith, who was boosted into that position by the same "billionaire friend" that you indicated!

As per Gay Marriage, Espada was not for Gay marriage initially and Now he indicates he is, cant tell were he really stands on that issue !

None of these points you stated does not pertain to being a "criminal" as you claim!

At the end he is a politician, making uninformed and hollow statements ads nothing to the real issues of people of color being locked out of the process for decades which lead to this mess in Albany.

I do not know a lot about Espada, not from my destrict, But much of the criticsm has been some what lopsided in my opinion, and a bit over the top, how and why the New York senate has gotten to this point was in the works long before Espada came into the scene, It has been with almost no exception the province of only three men controlling the entire legislative process for decades, and until recently all white men !

So to say that Espada is the sole cuase of the ruckus is disengenuise, myoptic and not factual !!

If I am aware this fact and most people in New York State are also, then why is the New Yorker writing such over simplistic, Binary article ?

I'm proud of Estrada. This is a politically astute man that knows what politics is about. It's about interests. The interests of his people were not being met by the all black democratic leadership expecting him to fall in line because he's Hispanic when the NY State Democratic party doesn't do anything for Hispanics. And progressive Democrats try and act like they're saviors all while looking down their noses at any Hispanic pol. This is someone whose done a lot for average folks i.e. Heath clinics and a fierce support of gay marriage. He's a true leader beholden to know one who will annihilate him because he's not part of the status quo i.e. white and wealthy. I respect this man and I support this coup. He's single handily put "Latinos in power" and everyone is mad about it. Interesting. Could it be subconscious racism.

Did you ever think these are the reasons some may not like him, not his background. There are plenty of hispanics in government that are respected for their work ethnic, Espada is not one of them. I certainly support diverse representation at the highest levels, and we definitely need Latino representation at the top rungs. Ironically, no one made much of a fuss when there was a White Governor, White Majority Leader and Jewish Speaker. All of a sudden when the accidental Governor, an African American, is put in office, and a relatively weak Majority Leader, an African American is elected, suddenly it's a problem.
