Michael Jackson Fans Raise Money To Defeat Peter King

There is, it turns out, a political price to pay when you make bold statements calling out Michael Jackson for some of the nefarious moments of his personal history.

Fans of Jackson are mobilizing to raise money for an opponent -- any opponent -- to run against Rep. Pete King, R-N.Y., following the critical remarks the congressman made about the recently deceased pop icon.

Over the weekend, King said that the media had gone far over the top in glorifying Jackson, who he deemed a "low-life" pervert who "may have been a good singer" and "did some dancing."

Now, an ActBlue fundraising site has been set up by "A fan of Michael Jackson" titled "Michael Jackson Fans AGAINST Peter King."

"Peter King ought to let Jackson rest in peace, and focus on the needs of his constituents. As we mourn the loss of an American legend, political grandstanding is not what we need right now!" the page reads. "Fans of Michael Jackson and his legacy stand united against Peter King's hateful words. Please donate here to show Peter King that true MJ fans won't stand for the smearing of a pop sensation!"

The fund is being set up to benefit the Democratic nominee for New York's third congressional district -- a reliable Republican stronghold. The problem is that at this time, there is no Democratic nominee. And King has flirted with a run for New York's governor's chair in 2010. Still, it will be interesting to see the extent to which Michael Jackson devotees can mobilize politically. Who would have thought that the King of Pop's legacy would become a partisan issue?

I know we should never be surprised when politicians use their political stature in embarrassing ways but this takes the cake. He is essentially using his Congressional stature to convict someone in a public forum with his words and of course, no proof. I agree - it is amazing how these "can't think outside the box nuts" love the court system until it works does not go they way they want. They love to go on about how great a country we live as long as it goes the way they want. Obama kicked the butts and MJ was the greatest entertainer of all times.

Whats so funny to me is the fact that lots of Americans believe in the justice system until the verdict does not go the way they want it to go. Micheal Jackson was not found guilty. Shouldn't that be enought for you people. I get it, the media took his death to whole new heights with the coverage. But Respect the man and what he did, because he was great at it. Mr. Peter King, was wrong to say that. He should of used that time to address the republican that was accused of molesting his interns or Maybe he needs to channel his energy else where. Maybe the can get together with his other narrow minded friends and discuss ways we can help fix the problems in our nation.

First off, the 22 million paid out to the childs father in 1993 was done so by Jacksons insurance company against Jackson and his advisors wishes. Anyone who remotely believes that just because a civil settlement is reached, that criminal charges are not filed is a truly ignorant and uneducated fool, which I see sadly that many here are. Had there been any evidence whatsoever, then Jackson would have been tried in a criminal court of law. No ifs ands or buts about it. The fact is that DA Tom Sneddon went before 2 Grand Juries with no evidence and both threw the case out due to not a shred of evidence. USA Today did a story in 1994 corraborating the fact the the description of Jacksons genitalia by the boy was completely inaccurate.

In 2005 the Arvizo family after attempting to settle as in 1993 first before learning that they must first file charges and win a case against the defendent before a civil trial could commence as instituted into law after the 1993 Jackson episode. With no evidence they went to trial. The Arvizo family's testimonies were found to be so ambiguous and full of holes, as well as being caught in lies on numerous occasions, that they were shown any lack of credibility. Furthermore the mother was shown to be extoting the welfare system, as well as filing similar allegations against JCPenney in a ludicrous attempt to extort money after her and her children were caught shoplifting.

Sounds to me like pete king is jealous because the "KING" of POP is more loved than he is.
OR
that pete king is showing his "TRUE" colors by his comments.

If we said everything as "FACT" that was alleged against Pete, he wouldn't like it too much.

I think I will give some money to the opponent of the good ol' boy pete.
