foxnews.com:

According to federal drug regulations, Michael Jackson's personal physician couldn't legally prescribe even a powerful cough medicine for the King of Pop in California, and he couldn't go to the pharmacy to get drugs for him, either.

Federal authorities told FOXNews.com that Dr. Conrad Murray is not licensed to administer certain levels of controlled medications in the state, and that if he gave Demerol or Oxycontin to Jackson, as has been reported, it would have been illegal.

Is it true that the crime scene was tainted because LAPD failed to secure the area? People were coming in and out of the house for days. Who's to say what was removed from or brought into Jackson's residence? Any criminal case seems compromised because procedures were ignored.

LAPD Chief is implying that they may be investigating a homicide.

If Diprivan is administered by hypodermic needle, why couldn't Jackson have injected himself?
Why would this Dr. Murray be responsible if Jackson illegally obtained the sedative and dosed himself?

Diprivan is administered intravenously in a very controlled continuous dosage. Because it is administered intravenously it's effects happen very, very quickly, and fade very, very quickly once the dosage is discontinued. It would be impossible for Mr. Jackson to administer the drug to himself without trained assistance. It wouldn't necessarily have to be Dr. Murray assisting him, but it would have to be someone with medical knowledge and skills.

Well I suppose if some multi-millionaire had his people find you a good drug dealer he'd at least be a doctor. Secondly if you're hooked on opiates and other sedatives your more likely to be less concerned with how they do their job, so long as they do what you need. You know butter them up, give 'em somewhere to live and even pay him way more than any other provider would require. Now if this is what happened, MJ is culpable of the crimes they'd love to pin on someone else. After all, the old saying goes something like, "How can you tell when an addict is lying? Their lips are moving." MJ was a very tlaented entertainer but that doesn't give him a pass for doing illegal drug deals and getting a perverted in his personal life, those and the others were his own personal choices.

This could be considered a homicide or manslaughter if he was not licensed. Not very ethical of the doctor.

Sure the truth will come out but one wonders why he didn't get a real doctor...that couldn't have been so hard.

I dislocated my shoulder two days ago, and had to go to an ER, where I was given Diprivan before they popped it back in (actually, the technical term for the procedure is a 'shoulder reduction'). I think I was given a relatively small amount, because I never went under. I was conscious the entire time, but I barely felt a thing when the doc pushed my shoulder back in place, and only a few seconds earlier I'd been in the most excruciating pain I've ever experienced. So make no mistake, this is very powerful stuff. I can only imagine the scenario of having this administered at home, and I really don't want to.

Propofol (Diprivan is not a controlled substance, but I can't believe that any one with medical training and a half an ounce of common sense would consider its use outside of an OR or ICU.

This drug is a sedative/hypnotic and while not classified as a "controlled substance" such as opiates etc, it is kept under lock and key in ORs and other surgical facilities and accounted for, signing in and out, for usage. It cannot be dispensed by any drug store, etc. It cannot be written on prescription forms by a physician. It is administered only in surgical anesthesia. I am curious if it can be detected in post mortem toxicology and tissue samples since it has such a rapid half life, though IV infusions such as in ICUs for patients on ventilators over several days, can be detected in blood samples and in liver tissue. This drug does not put you to sleep or give you a high, etc. It puts you into a coma where you are helpless and your body systems do not kick in on their own to start you breathing if the systems for breathing spontaneously are shut down sufficiently.

So MJ had possession of it, WTF?
Some one some where in the medical establishment will loose their license, it will be found out where & how he got the drug.

war on drugs - what a joke - people would not know how these drugs felt if the doctors were not pushing the drugs - it's all over the tv - take this for that and that for this - but be careful it will cause this and that - you tell a doctor you have a pain and what do they do - push their drugs - what a shame -

But, there is the doc's d/e/f/e/n/s/e, especially, the part about he not being able to purchase ANY med's at a pharmacy in Cali. And, it will be his word against anyone elses that he administered any drugs to Michael. Remember, no one else was in the room with Michael when he arrested. If the doc didn't write any prescriptions, whether in Michaels name or another name, the doc won't be charged.

Now just how do you know who was in the room and who was not - the media - any doctor can get meds from their doctor friends - they don't need a license - it's really strange that meds were found by the police after the house was not secured and no one knows who the druges they found were written for - how convenient for the doctors and the law - and the USA is so very smart -
