'Three's Company' Joyce DeWitt Cited For DUI

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. — An actress who starred on the hit television series "Three's Company" has been arrested in Southern California and cited for drunken driving. Police say Joyce DeWitt, who played the character Janet Wood on the popular show, was pulled over Saturday afternoon after she drove past a barricade near a park in El Segundo.

Sgt. Danny Kim says an officer arrested the 60-year-old DeWitt after he observed signs she had been drinking and gave her field sobriety tests.

Kim says DeWitt was booked at the Police Department, cited and released on her own recognizance.

A telephone listing for DeWitt was not immediately available.

I know her. She's not a problem drinker. It was 4th of July festivities at a community park, and she would have been doing about 5mph past the barricade in question, and her destination was about 2 blocks away, I'd guess. They said they detected alcohol on her breath, which could have applied to any number of people attending.
Also, anyone who knows El Segundo knows the PD is very very strict, especially on a day like that one, with good reason. I hate that she went thru it, but this is not a case of raging alcoholic or public danger. She's not troubled, messed up, depressed or psychotic. She's normal, and all of us have made bad choices on occasion.

Witnesses said DeWitt pulled up in a black sports car, parked, and staggered toward a police officer standing in uniform next to his motorcycle. She slurred, "Where the hell is East Oak Street?" a witness said. An officer asked how much she had to drink and she said, "Just one." She then reached into her car, pulled out a plastic container and began drinking from it. It was unclear what was inside.

I don't condone drunk driving..but she must not have been too far gone if they released her on her own recognizan­ce...okay.­.honest now..who among us (Omish...no need to reply)...has NOT driven home after one or two glasses of wine...it's a matter of bad luck..getting "popped"... yes..I got a DUI...12 years ago...but had to have my friend drive me home....fast forward...$1300 "fine"..it's $250..but they won't let you pay it on the spot..they make you wait..impose interest charges...and voila..$1300..THEN, you have to got to alcohol school (where you learn how to process cocaine)

I think Jan looks fine for 60...scare­d...having spent probably a few hours in a jail. My hope is that when she is forced to go to AA. (and she will..at least 6 meetings)...maybe she'll discover that she DOES have a drinking problem (unless she doesn't..and just got unlucky). bottom line..TAKE CAB FARE!..much cheaper than a DUI... and to woodcut...AA can be odd..but one an always pick up bits of wisdom...I truly believed it was a cult..still do...but it's a 'good cult"..please.. I don't want to see her on next seasons "celebrity rehab"..now THAT'S a joke

Depends what she is auditioning for? Granny with a drinking problem forced to live with her uptight son, his status obsessed wife and their emotionally disturbed child who seems only to connect with her. I would say, shoe in.
