In September 2008, Anthony Kim whacked a shot on the ninth hole that hit 48-year-old David Whitfield of Atlanta in the head.

"I thought I killed him...It was an awful feeling to look down and see a golf ball-sized impression in his forehead and it's cut open. It was probably the nastiest thing I've ever seen," Kim said.

The man was taken to the hospital and turned out to be fine, but that wasn't the end of Kim's fan-hitting spree. This week at the AT&T National, Kim pegged a spectator in the butt with a drive on the 18th hole. He seemed considerably less hurt than the last victim, but was definitely taken by surprise!

It seems it would be distracting to the pros to have so many fans lined up so close to tee and fairways like that. Only makes sense that someone will get nailed. Suprised we don't see more injuries or even fatal head shot. Does anyone know who's liable if injured by on of the pro's? can they sue the pro or golf club or do they sign a release? just curious.
