Michael Jackson's daughter Paris spoke to finish the memorial service for her father.

Standing on stage and choking back tears, Paris said that since the day she was born, her dad was great.

"I just want to say, ever since I was born, Daddy has been the best father you could ever imagine. I just want to say I love him so much."

She then burst into tears and went into a bear hug with her aunt Janet.

Her brothers Prince Michael and Blanket were also on stage with their uncles and aunts but did not speak.

I feel so bad for these kids because Debbie Rowe has dollar eyes on them. The grandfather Joe Jackson is thinking of making money off of these kids. I am so sorry their father dyed so young, leaving them so vulnerable to vultures. Their needs to a court appointed guardian to look in on them so they are not money prey.

Thank you Earl for this article. I am just appalled at some of the nay-sayers here.
From what I have read the gist of their complaints against Michael Jackson have been superficial to say the least.

Argument no. 1 - He dangled Blanket over the balcony.
Yes he dangled Blanket over the balcony. Does that make him a bad father? NO! Nothing happened to Blanket. Did he make poor decisions? Yes. Dangling blanket wasn't a very wise decision but hey other celebrities parents have made poor decisions as well. Britney driving with her baby on her lap! Kate Moss and her drug scandal. I disapprove of their actions but who am I to say if they are bad parents or not. For all I know Kate Moss may be a very good loving mother. Learn to stop being so judgmental.

So many times we forget that celebrities are people too. Dear Paris made MJ appear to be the human being he really and he is deserving of all of our respect and admiration for blessing us with such devinly inspired music and lyrics. I am sure MJ is "Danicin' in Heaven". My favorite piece by MJ is the Free Willy sound track and movie. May God Bless MJ's family today and always. MJ will live forever in in our hearts and in his music. Thank you Michael for leaving this world a better today than is was before.

I lost my mother a few years ago and it just goes to show no matter what age, the same feelings come out of you. At 32, I felt the same way when I experienced my loss but didnt have the courage to speak it in public like Paris did, it was just so sad to hear it . I pray for these children that they are taken care of, and RIP Michael J.

Something that showed the affection these kids have for ther Aunt Janet was when young Michael put his head for just a moment on her shoulder just before they left stage.

They (the adults) may not have been sure that Paris Katherine would speak (Janet asked her whether she was sure . . . that doesn't sound like force), and the microphone was too high for her mouth (since they had to lower it for her, that seems unpremeditated). Her Aunt Janet is a performer and knew that the girl had to speak up in order to be heard . . so she told her so lovingly, gently pulling her hair from her face. Furthermore, Paris didn't seem so much forced by the adults around her as much as consumed by grief . . . she seem to want to need to let everyone know that Michael Jackson was good (a good father) -- what is remarkable is that someone that young who hasn't spoken before in public could do so with such poignancy and heart.

It was a truly authentic moment. The family was clearly being protective and supportive. That is indeed a courageous little girl.

Very brave, raw and heartbreaking. I can't believe people would think this 11-year old child was FAKING her love for a father that died very young and very suddenly. Paris and her brothers are beautiful children, and I encourage everyone reading this to send comforting thoughts their way, as it's going to be a very tough time as they transition into a new life.

It's always heart breaking when young children loose a parent. I hope that the media goes easy on these poor kids. They should do fine with Kate, nanny and other family members.

Breaks my heart to think about what those poor kids must be going through right. Thank God they have a strong family to take them in and pick up where their dad left off. R.I.P.

With today's media, getting to the truth is more difficult than ever. On one hand, there are so many more outlets, plus bloggers, therefore much more information is available. Unfortunately disinformation and misinformation abound. I never met Mr. Jackson or anyone who had, so I don't know squat about the guy, other than he was a very talented entertainer and was either eccentric or wanted to be thought of in that way (entertainers' public images are extremely important to their careers). I do believe, however, that Paris' brief comments were the only thing about the man I can believe as 100 percent truth. That little girl loved her daddy very much, and it brings a tear to an old man's eye to see her grief. At least regarding his parenting of her, I believe fully he was a kind and loving father. I am very sorry for his children's loss.

People thought that Michael named his son after Prince the singer. Turns out that he named him after his own grandfather.

Do a little research. Perhaps the media has done a "job" on you.

Why are these kids paraded in front of the media and public in their time of grief?!?

Where is the family to shield these kids from being involved in a media circus?

The Jackson family should be ashamed for this.

Only 3 kids in this mess can say their father is dead.

...and it wasn't right putting them through this publicly.

Please tell me what position are you in to tell others how to handle their family affairs? What Phd to you hold to know the absolute effects of this media circus you speak of. Did you do a study on celebrity's children when they're parents died?

I know kids in pain have a hard time dealing with grief in the best of times in security.

These kids lost the only parent they know, and for years of wearing masks and blankets in public, speaking about a dead father in front of thousands and in front of cameras cannot be psychologically sound.

I feel for any of your kids if you don't understand that.

Oh bullshit. This was a funeral, not an op-ed (excpet for Sharpton, who never has trouble finding a camera). I've been to several funerals where children were left without one of their parents and there was nothing shameful about their participation in a process designed for the living to cope with the loss. Had he not been famous and thus his funeral procession numbering over 20,000, this would have been no different.

It is a media circus, but that doesn't mean children should not speak at their father's funeral! If it was a non-celebrity, it would be ok for the kids to speak, but not here?

MJ was like the skinny, effeminate kid in school who everyone picked on solely because they knew he would never fight back. Now that he's gone, he can't defend himself even if he wanted to. The crap will fly -- and most of will be pulled out of the asses of people who want to profit off this man's death.

My friend had just passed the bar when the MJ trial was underway and she studied it closely. I remember her saying that although she couldn't pass judgement on anything else that had gone on behind Neverland's doors, the testimony in the trial was ridiculous. Every member of the kids' family was caught lying on the stand, and the sister contradicted herself several times. The mother had badgered Chris Tucker and Jay Leno for cash as well.

It's pretty scary when you think about it. How does a person, especially an eccentric guy like MJ, go about proving that something DIDN'T happen?

Peace to MJ's kids. I lost my dad earlier this year, albeit after a long illness, not something sudden and unexpected. It still hurts. At least I don't have to listen to people drag my dad's name through the sewer. These kids will need all the love and strength in the world to get through this.

What makes me saddest about his death is that he suffered so many indignities at the hands of the press and these greedy parents. He didn't deserve it.
