The United States never signed the Kyoto Protocol because we are the worst offender.

Let's start with an $100,000 annual tax on every home over 5,000 sq. ft. Break them into apartments or pay. Let's add a $100 tax on every new computer, as they are now one of the largest energy drains in the system. No new servers.

You know how you can tell global warming is a hoax....look at how many posts there are in the green category........hardly any at all....if people really thought the world was going to end you think they'd be a little bit more interested in the subject...but the majority knows its a hoax....

Typical conservative, always on the wrong side of every issue.

Personally, I find it hilarious watching people who think the world is 3000 years old discuss science.

less than 2/1,000 of all CO2 is produced by human activity. So even if we wiped out every car,
power plant, jet liner, and human being from the face of the earth, there would be no noticeable effect on global CO2 levels.

At last. Class warfare, in the open. Except, of course, it will exempt member of Congress and Al Gore.

A pure carbon tax would effectively do this....tax energy consumption in whatever form it comes.

Unfortunately the cap and trade scheme is so riddled with give aways and kick backs that it is unlikely to have any effect at all....except on US jobs.

A related issue concerns socioeconomic inequity and the environment, I've posted some background
data for a number of U.S. cities here:
http://www.sciencetime.org/blog/?cat=9
Governments and corporations place environmentally degrading projects away from places wealthy people live, while the wealthy enjoy the benefits from these projects. My posted data shows the results within the United States, and the article discusses this issue across countries. Wealthy countries disproportionately gain the benefits while developing countries suffer the consequences. Let's change that.

Why is this even being discussed? The truth is out and the debate is now over.

The rich will just leave the country. I wouldn't blame them.

They will anyway. The most used phrase recently is "tax the wealthy..." to raise money for whatever is being discussed, ie healthcare, cap and tax, whatever. The wealthy will actually leave and take their wealth with them, in order to preserve it. This is to be expected.

Funny thing, oil company memos reveal their biggest problem is too much supply. Their answer was not to build a new refinery in decades.

Now this new proposed law would even make us REDUCE the number of refineries.

Somehow the green "agenda" is to do exactly what the oil companies want.
