Wow, that is an awful coincidence! Wishing the best for the entire Mickelson family and a speedy recovery for both women.

As a breast cancer survivor who once thought this disease was the kiss of death, I can honestly say it is very beatable. Oddly enough, since fighting it, my quality of life has imporved on all levels (except financial, thanks to my insurance co-pays and deductibles). If you keep the faith, and keep fighting, you can be victorious and better for the experience.

I hope both were found early and they have good prognosis. Many men and women have beaten this disease and I wish them all the best.

This is horrible, yet all too common news...

If we'd put as much money and effort into Breast CA research and treatment as we do advertising expensive cars, mutual funds and Hard-On-Pills during PGA Tour events...well...maybe those pink ribbons DO help...some...

At the very least, high-profile battles with this overwhelming disease bring more attention...and dollars...

The Strength and Courage of the Micklesons and their families portends positive outcomes.

Oh this is soooo very true, and most especially for the 15% of us "triple Negatives" that have no drugs whatsoever to ward off any recurrence. Guess when you are only 15% of the whole, you don't matter much to the drug companies - they're not going to make the big bucks off you , as they can with the 85% of the ER/PR+ gals that have many meds to choose from in the hope of beating this beast.

I made a discovery after someone in my family got cancer. You can walk into any crowded room and ask who has cancer, and watch all the hands go up. Then ask, does anybody have a husband or wife with cancer. Most of the rest of the hands go up. Sadly, there's nothing special or uniquely tragic about having two family members with cancer. It's everywhere.
