From Planet Green: Ever since news broke that 8 Republicans cast a crucial 'aye' vote for the climate bill--which passed by the razor thin margin of 219-212--their own party has set out to crucify them.

Quick Poll

Should we praise the 8 Repubs who voted yes?

Um. No. They're still Republicans.

Yes, it's crucial that the bill had bipartisan support. We should applaud them!

The climate bill got totally watered down anyway. They don't deserve a pat on the back.

Let's not count our chickens before they hatch. It still has to pass the Senate.

Should we reward conservatives who caused it for realizing they also endangered themselves?

It's not a climate bill!

It's a investment bankers new market complete with derivatives like the fraudulent Credit Default Swaps! See my profile for proof.

Simple 1$ per ton Carbon equivalent tax is the non-banksters way to go.

The Successful cap and trade system look NOTHING LIKE THIS BANKERS BILL. Google it.

It isn't supposed to open warfare, although it seems that way sometimes. There are still a few Republicans willing to put the welfare of their country (and the human race) above the dictates of their party.

I called every one of those Republican's DC offices and thanked them for their "yes" vote. The interns answering the phones were thrilled to hear some positive feedback after all the rightwing radio vitriol. I appreciate anyone who shows the foresight to be a good steward for future generations.

Why is this even a question? It's about the policy. They support it, you support them. Duh?

You need more options in your poll. How about "your vote implies the tiniest whisper of an apology for being a d!&k". Or for the more enthusiastic: "In appreciation of your vote I'm sending you a check; please use a portion of it to send me a specimen of the Washington D.C. license plate that says 'Taxation Without Representation' but understand this is no subtle dig at YOU".

Can we stop caring if it's John Smith (R) or John Smith (D) who votes for a bill? Can we stop caring if a bill is sponsored by (R) or (D)? Can we please, please, please just consider a bill or elected representative on its own merits? On that note, can we stop caring about skin color and religious affiliation? (BTW, stop saying "reverse" discrimination. And stop calling prejudice "discrimination.") Can we just be more interested in making the country better instead of burying the other guy? Please?
