John Ensign Affair: Read The Letter He Sent To His Lover

The husband of John Ensign's mistress spoke publicly for the first time today, claiming that the Nevada Senator continued to pursue his wife, Cynthia Hampton, even after powerful political colleagues tried to stop him.

Doug Hampton said that Oklahoma Senator Tom Coburn and others urged Ensign "to end the affair and help the Hamptons pay off their home and move to Colorado. But Ensign was so infatuated that he continued, Hampton said, reports the Las Vegas Sun.

He also claimed that Ensign paid Hampton's wife more than $25,000 in severance, which could be a possible felony violation of campaign finance law.

Hampton added that Coburn confronted Ensign and urged him to provide millions of dollars in assistance to the Hamptons to pay off their mortgage, in addition to getting Ensign to write a remorseful letter to Cynthia Hampton.

In the letter, Ensign expresses his shame: "I was completely self-centered and only thinking of myself. I used you for my own pleasure not letting thoughts of you, Dough, Brandon or Brittany come into my mind."

But that attitude changed quickly, says Hampton, who claims that Ensign later repudiated the letter and told him "I'm in love with your wife."

Ensign's letter reads like that of something written by a troubled campaign manager, with hopes of saving his candidate.

There is NO FRAKIN WAY this was originated by ensign, no way! After all, I refuse to believe a US Senator would be this whiny, sniveling, and obsequious, can you?

And, when he started on the God-Rant, well it cemented my suspicion as to the authorship of this whimper-fest of a note. At that point, I KNEW it was his campaign manager, to this I say once again, WHAT A FRAKIN TOOL!!!!

I cannot fathom how a human female would have sex with this weenie-tot of a male, neither can I even comprehend the incredibly weenie-ness of this guy "DOUG" in order to make ensign a more exciting choice for his wife's bed-events.

This pack of 'D' bags with legs, must surely be proud of themselves for how nutless they've allowed themselves as group (and individually), to all of us perfect Americans.

It's obvious, there is not a single pair in this entire flock of 'D' Baggers, not -a- ONE!

Ensign, its amazing how you blamed your wife for your personal indiscretions. Seems like this is the same old Republican methodology, blame it on someone else. Blaming something on someone else is deceitful, but to blame it on your family members tells me a lot about this cretin. It seems as though you’re very conservative on mostly everything. To repubs "God" equals "giant tool". "God" calls on them to run for office. "God" tells them how to vote. "God" looks away while they throw on some Barry White CDs but shows up just in time to forgive them when they've been caught with their pants down. "God" loves them enough to allow them to "forgive" themselves and invokes "strong faith", reminding the mistreated spouse that they must honor their vows and stay in the marriage. "God" tells them to stay in office for the greater good.

It's so cowardly to use an entity that hasn't so far the ability to speak for himself..ie "God". After 2000 or more years you would think a powerful being who created the universe and obviously could speak several thousands of years ago(therefore the "BIBBLE") can't come forth on his own ever. But John Ensign can use him to help him get out of a very tight fix. Please just say you couldn't get rid of that rod every time you saw your friend's wife. And that no matter how many times you did her the destruction you were creating couldn't keep your lust in check. You didn't care at all. It was your satisfaction that counted until the word was about to get out. Please don't insult any of us by being "remorseful". Remorse is what you feel because you didn't get away with it.
