Miley Cyrus Wears Thigh High Boots, Is Good For America

First Posted: 8/8/09 Updated: 5/25/11

Miley

Miley Cyrus is the August cover of Elle magazine, and inside the teen queen poses in black thigh-high boots and talks about her new clothing line with Max Azria for Wal Mart.

"The jeans are my favorite part of the entire line," Miley told Elle. "Because, like, literally this is going to be good for, like, Middle America, and it will be great for kids that really want to be in fashion but that don't have it available."

She also talks about her friendships (and one-time romance) with Nick Jonas and Demi Lovato.

"It's hard for all of us. There are so many people that could be using you. So me and Nick and Demi, we don't need anything from each other. We got our own thing going on."

"somethings" was supposed to be preceded by "twenty". Bloody hell.

Another pretty little cash cow can take a sexy photo but can't put together a coherent sentence.
Big surprise.

Catch 22: If kids eat too much of the Hannah Montana cereal, they can't wear the Miley Cyrus Jeans:

While I do not really like the idea of marketing hypersexualized teenage media stars, to a certain degree all the ire here is a bit much. What we fail to realize is the moral and age lines we place on teens are artificial and reflective only of the our modern social system.

I know I'll catch a ton of he11 from the religious folks, but the fact is, teenagers and sexuality is natural. Think about it, a hundred and fifty years ago there was lots of teenage sex because people married at 15 or 16. That is why evolution set it up so that people are the most fertile in their late teens and early 20s. Not to mention the fact you had to have your kids in your teens because you weren't likely to live much past 40.

The age limes and limits we place on kids all derive from our modern industrial and now technology dependent society. Kids, with the exception of those like Miley, cannot be independent now until their mid twenties because of the education and training required. As a result marriage and child bearing is later, but we can't expect kids to delay the imperative of nature for that long. We think we have come a long way in liberalizing sexual attitudes, but we are backward compared with the rest of the modern, democratic societies,

She probably older then half the models in the magazine. People have been bitching about this since Brooke Shields and Jodie Foster. Big Deal. She looks great in these pics.

That's the problem - oversexualization of underage teens. Justifying it by bringing up other mistakes in the past doesn't make it right. We shouldn't be doing this to our children. Period.

I'm sorry, what's the problem?

Annie Liebowitz should be ashamed for coercing this innocent girl into such a provocative pose.

Innocent my happy ass...

It's only a matter of time until the Britney-esque public behaviorscandals begin.

And that carefully crafted facade will be history....

I don't think that Miley Cyrus belongs in magazines such as Vanity Fair and Elle in the first place. I can't picture 8-12 year olds buying those magazines, and that's her target audience.

I agree with your statement, though. Teenagers want to grow up before their time. Adults need to give them guidance and be able to say "no".

I meant what I said facetiously. It was a reference to the indignation, fake and otherwise, that her father and all the other "adults" in her life aimed at Liebowitz in the wake of the Vanity Fair piece.

The cross of Jesus the Christ, right between her ample, bared cleavage on the cover of Elle.
How very...Christian.
Shouldn't she be wearing a pearl necklace instead?
;-)

Hey, I volunteer to donate the ah.....uh, never mind.

I don't see any "ample, bared cleavage" in the photo above. And as for "ample, bared cleavage" in general, isn't that god's doing???

listen i love miley and all but she is such a hypocrite!!! she acts as if she is soo innocent then posts pictures of her self like that all over the internet and some of them she takes herself!! these pictures arent that bad but if i were her parents i would not be allowing my 16 yr old daughter to pose like that…. i mean you can disagree if you want… you can vote here http://www.iheartradio.com/cc-common/news/sections/entertainmentarticle.html?feed=104650&article=5717554&cmp=sam_mileyphotos but i mean does anyone see what im seeing here!?!

Miley told Elle. "Because, like, literally this is going to be good for, like, Middle America, and it will be great for kids that really want to be in fashion but that don't have it available."

She has obviously been tutored in English by ex-gov Palin.

Can I get some outrage from the same people who opposed the Vanity Fair spread?

This is so lame... what's her excuse this time? I turned 16, now I want to look like sex?

From a technical perspective it is a lovely photo but as a photographer, I would not have posed a child like that. But, I am also a mother of 4 children (two are girls) who understands the power of imagery and projection. Your experiences in life have a tendency to color how you view art, movies, poetry, etc...but with said, I still would not have posed a child in a suggestive way. The boots are bondage style, flapper dress, legs lifted up and lying on your back implies being "available" - I am surprised her lips weren't heavily rouged & parted. So, where are her parents in this?

Having lots of money doesn't shield you from making poor choices, just ask Britney.

Miley may have singing talent, but that's about it.

This young lady has no poise, manners or respect for others. I watched an English interview with Jonathan Ross in which Miley outright insulted Lady Helen Mirren in front of the huge audience, not just once but several times. The audience booed at her and the interviewer was beside himself. I had my 10 year old daughter watch the clip and from then on, she has no interest in Miley Cyrus - thank god! Disney is producing child stars with no boundaries or principle, who are proud to be selfish and doesn't understand the meaning of being humble.

I'd rather watch Emma Watson.

Watch the clip:

My mother is from the south and would have "done me in" for this picture and then would have went after the photographer. *laugh* I remember the first time she saw my tattoo (not a tramp stamp mind you), I thought she was going to grab a switch from the tree and come after me - I was 39 at the time. I just love her, it is easy to laugh at it now but at the time she had me pretty scared.

I will say first I really know very little about Miley but I think her problem might be she most likely has had little to no education. She has been on tv and singing most of her life and I don't know if education has played an important part of her up bringing. There are two women that I wish more of the young Hollywood and the young singers and tv stars would look to, Brooke Sheilds and Jodi Foster. They have been in show business almost their entire lives and look what type of bright, strong and educated women they have grown up to be. These are two women I wish Miley and some other young women would look up to.

My almost 7 year old likes Hannah Montana....I think that we may have to rethink that one! She is entirely way too young to be posing like that.......Who is her handler?
