I hope she was kidding with that comment.
Lets see if she has the same opinion when shes 30.
I like her.. had a chance to meet her-- we had a good laugh, such a lovely lady--and a damn good actress, too.
Well, if it limits expression, then it's sort of the opposite of a performance enhancer. Whatever, she just turned 38 and lives in a damp climate. If she were 45 and living in sunny LA she'd be singing a different tune.
You know what? Botox may be terrible for actors, but I bet it would do wonders for poker players.

and Lip Syncing should also be banned for singer(s) with "live" performances.
We all want to look nice, but, in my opinion, there's nothing nicer to accept reality and age as we 're all intended to. Lines on your face let people know that you have lived. And, besides, an honest, wrinkled facial expression can convey much more emotion than an ironed-out frown. Just like she says.
nope. like any true icon from yesteryear did it the old fashioned way and had the cameraman rub a coat of vaseline on the lens.
She is so pretty. I love her movies. I agree on the botox and surgeries. Look at Meg Ryan. I loved her, and now she looks awful. Jessica Lange too. She was such a great actress. And she too, looks awful. It's hard to watch them act. Their expressions are too distracting. And you can't get past that. Kathleen Turner looks pretty bad, but she looks real. And that is why she is still working, even if it's in comedies. Although, she didn't age very well, she looks like a real character. And I know women, who look great as they are aging, without resorting to plastic surgery or botox. If you are healthy and don't drinks so much, you won't looks so bad when you get older. And that is why I love Diane Keaton, she is not afraid to show her wrinkles. And that is why she is still very entertaining.
She looks beautiful in the cover pic, but if a woman wants to get cosmetic work done, that's her business, not Rachel's.
She makes a good argument. I agree that a person's personal choice is ultimately theirs to make. Like Barry taking steroids, personal choice. But her point was that it ruins the player, hurts the game. And I agree.
Fascinating and brave. Good going, Rachel.
I can see the logic. So many times recently I'll be trying to watch a show/movie & am completely distracted by the frozen face, over-plumped lips or overly inflated b00bs. It takes away from the story they're trying to tell if all you notice are the failed attempts to look young.
I haven't seen any woman with these 'adjustments' playing a character that they wouldn't have been playing without them. They aren't suddenly getting parts created for 20 yr olds. In truth, the 'adjustments' probably cost them opportunities to play the honest, experienced woman roles. There are only so many parts for 'cougars' out there. So many wonderful actresses now sidelined, not because of their age but because of their failed attempts to remain youthful.
There are so many stunning older women out there that are comfortable in their own skin. Many of them are incredible actresses. Facial expressions are necessary for real acting.
The overinflated look irks me, especially because a lot of the time it is so badly overdone. Being conservative is the key in any kind of cosmetic treatment by dermatologists or plastic surgeons.
I disagree that botox itself creates the "over frozen" wax figure look. It's not the drug as much as the overapplication. I've had botox done, usually in the glabellar (between the eyebrows) area. From time to time I have my forehead done and if the dermatologist doesn't overdo it then it looks like you're just missing a few wrinkles, not waxen. The problem is some patients want too much of everything and don't know when to stop, and surgeons/dermatologists want to give them what they demand (and pay for).
I'm sure a lot of actors have had work done that we don't know about, because it was done well.
Easy to say when you are HOT!!!
Well, steroids are performance-enhancers for baseball players. Botox is really more of a performance hindrance for actors, since it prevents them from making facial expressions. So what Rachel is saying kind of doesn't make sense... but I still agree with her that Botox is a bad thing. I mean, look at what Botox and other kinds of injectibles have done to two beautiful women like Nicole Kidman and Meg Ryan. It's ruined their looks!
Grow old gracefully, please. Some of these actors and actresses are starting to look like Frankenstein's monster.
