Vanity Fair:

The Jackson family's grief may be personal, but if they were going to mourn in front of the world yesterday at Los Angeles's Staples Center, they were going to do it in style. So Michael Jackson's sister Janet Jackson contacted Donatella Versace and asked her to outfit the entire clan.

job well done donatella. very appropriate and elegant attire for the family. as for the glasses, they were worn as a homage to michael just as the single glove was worn by the pall bearers. even the toughest of critics knew that.

I liked how the Jackson men were all dressed identically in gold, even MJs cas ket. Normally, I would think that was a bit much but the Jackson's were a musical group who frequently used to dress alike when they performed. Seeing them dressed in solidarity colors was a reminder of how bonded they are beyond being brothers. It was like their last chance to be a group and include Michael. Sad when you think about it. Donatella totally got that part of it.

And LaToya's hat was fabulous. All 3 of the ladies looked great and their outfits complimented each other.

The gold ties that the men wore were a beautiful accent, and I loved the hats, especially Janet's.

Best work Donatella's ever done. Restrained, appropriate, flattering, and still super-stylish.

They were certainly stylish. Donna outdid herself this time.

Fabulous! Too bad you couldn't stop Joe from chewing gum and ditch the tacky hat.

The family look great, dignify, classy, and looks like true people in mourning. I believe for each member in your family that passes away, you need a new black outfit to mourn them.

I thought the family looked great, and I don't blame them for wearing sunglasses. They wore them for privacy.

I don't know if the kids were dressed in Versace as well, but I thought they were very nicely dressed as well. It's the first time I've seen a girl named Paris dressed modestly.

The sunglasses detracted from the dignity of the memorial and the tastefulness of the families attire. Unfortunate that they chose to wear them.

There's nothing unfortunate about them wearing sunglasses. When your brother or family member dies, you don't have to wear one but leave them alone. It's their choice. It's stupid to say sunglasses have anything to do with dignity.

The sunglasses DID NOT detract from anything. What a RIDICULOUS statement! People in mourning often wear sunglasses to hide eyes that are "puffy" from shedding so many tears. I did so just yesterday at the funeral of my dad's brother, a Tuskegee Airman with an amazing legacy.

I absolutely disagree. I wore sunglasses to my mother's and father's funerals (actually most of the family did as well). I shared the day with those who loved my parents - my tears and my grief however were my own.

They were representing. Michael wore sunglasses and his one glove a lot and they were channeling his style. That's the bond they had all during the years of growing up - they all dressed the same, especially when on stage.

Corey Feldman, Usher, Joe and Katherine Jackson all represented in the same manner.

No, teary, swollen/ bloodshot eyes (from days of crying and possibly little sleep), would have been a distraction. They were appropriately dressed and looked extremely classy and dignified.
Now what's tasteless is to be so critical about things so trivial during a family's time of sorrow.
