UPI:

Sen. Tom Coburn, R-Okla., said Thursday he would invoke privilege if asked about advice he gave to Sen. John Ensign, R-Nev., on handling an extramarital affair.

Coburn said he was talking to Ensign about his tryst with a former staffer in his capacities as a doctor and a man of the cloth, Roll Call reported.

There are real reasons to be afraid of this C Street cabal of moneyed powerful; a so-called "Family". They have an agenda to transform the US into a Christian theocracy of "Have's" and "Have Not's". Eliminate the middle class and you remove the threat of an uprising and protests against the government they envision.

As for the "family values" hypocrites like Foley, Vitter, Craig, Ensign, Sanford and Fossella - when the day of reckoning comes, Saint Peter won't find their names on the entrance roster.

The people of Oklahoma have elected, in their wisdom, to be represented in the Senate by two of the biggest bozos in American politics: the right-wing lunaticJames Inhofe and this Coburn character, whose current antics speak for themselves. What is it about Oklahoma?

Maybe if we are lucky, Oklahoma will join Texas in seceding from the US . That seems to be the only way we can get jokers like Senator, Deacon,Dr, Cloburn out of the nest of C street elitists who want alleged "godlike" super rich white guys to run the world.

I guess there's so little talent in OK that you need to double up jobs. Can we check with the dogcatcher-governor-architect-firefighter-golfer?

Why not claim to be a lawyer, too, to complete the trifecta? His legal skills are clearly on a par with his medical and pastoral skills.

Dr. Coburn diagnosed a serious case of Humpetitis, and was simply following his Hypocritic Oath..

I see a lot of ad hominem attacks against Coburn's integrity. Perhaps some of them are deserved. However, it's important to remember that despite his crazy right wing views, Coburn is friends with Barack Obama. They cosponsored transparency legislation making it easier to find out what the government spends money on- "Google Government". ABCNews reported that Coburn would often call Obama on the campaign trail to cheer him up.

I'm just saying even good people occasionally do bad things. Keep that in mind.

A deacon in the Southern Baptist Church is an elected official, not an ordained minister bound by the rules of the confessional and, since Coburn's specialty is obstetrics, exactly how was Ensign his patient?

I think this is why Jesus may not come back---He may just let us destroy ourselves

First, why would Ensign need a consultation with an OBGYN?

Second...I didn't know Deacons had such privilidges.

Listened last night to a reporter who lived in the C Street Christian home in DC where a bunch of extreme right Congressmen lived from time to time. They had meetings on a regular basis and the leader of the group (not named) would preach to these men that they shouldn't worry about extra marital affairs because they were chosen by God to be leaders, therefore their actions were ok. Their prime objective was to be rich and powerful. If they chose to be kind to others, that was up to them, but definitely not something they were obliged to do.

These people are soooo dangerous and they run our country.

This rationale was old when Fyodor Dostoevsky explored it in "Crime and Punishment". The Twitter version: Dirtbag loser convinced he's another Napoleon, so commits axe murder of harmless old woman to prove he's above the laws that govern ordinary men. Finds out otherwise.

He spoke with him as a deacon and a physician--casual conversations between clergy and their flock are not protected conversations. If he was advising him as a doctor, there should be a bill for the service, otherwise he was just providing advice from one crony to another.
