'Capitalism: A Love Story': Michael Moore's New Movie

LOS ANGELES — Michael Moore's latest documentary now has a title _ and a theme that resonates with recession-weary audiences.

Moore's look at the consequences of big business will be called "Capitalism: A Love Story." The documentary is due in theaters Oct. 2.

Distributor Overture Films said "Capitalism" examines the disastrous effects of corporate profiteering.

"It will be the perfect date movie," Moore said. "It's got it all _ lust, passion, romance and 14,000 jobs being eliminated every day. It's a forbidden love, one that dare not speak its name. Heck, let's just say it: It's capitalism."

Moore got his start with the 1989 big-business documentary "Roger & Me," his portrait of the economic strife caused by General Motors job losses in his home town of Flint, Michigan, and a chronicle of his quest for an audience with GM boss Roger Smith.

The filmmaker scored a $100 million hit with 2004's "Fahrenheit 9/11," which centered on the Bush White House's actions after the Sept. 11 attacks. Moore won an Academy Award for his 2002 gun-control documentary "Bowling for Columbine."

I'm sure Michel Moore is going to give all the movie's "evil" profits to the government, after all the government knows best!!

I highly doubt this movie will actually analyze why the economy is in the shape it is, because then one realizes that is the gov. meddling in the market that actually creates the bubbles. Instead we are going to have to listen to empty rhetoric about the "evil" of capitalism from the most bias and ill informed sources.

It should surprise no one that only 6% of scientists identify themselves as Republican, while 55% call themselves Democrats. The Republican Party has shown itself to be anti-science (unless it's to build a bigger bomb), anti-logical (consider their impeachment of Clinton for a sexual peccadillo, while many of their members do far worse and avoid punishment), anti-humanitarian (they are indifferent to the healthcare issues of most American, and think healthcare should remain a "for profit" business) .
Michael Moore, Keith Olbermann, Rachel Maddow, et. al., will never lack for material so long as Republicans are around.

M. Moore is not against Capitalism as much as he is against GREED. He's proven over and over that most (not all) CEO's, COO's CFO's etc who run the show, can't seem to get enough of the almighty green. They will close plants, lay off employees cut salaries etc even when they are profitable. They do this to satisfy their insatiable desire to hoard money any way they can. Their lobbyists are their "hit-men" who pay off politicians and keep dirt on them so they stay in their place and write laws and pass amendments that screw the middle class and keep unions from forming or gaining strength. Liberals do not hate people who are rich as the right wants you to believe, we just hate greedy bastards.

Michael Moore has never condemned Capitalism, per se. He's shown a light into the workings of the American version of it. Like Orwell, who was a socialist his entire life, hated the Soviet version of it and wrote against it most of his later life. Simply because he was opposed to the Soviet version of socialism did not make him a Tory conservative. More, I believe, has no problem with essential elements of capitalism, just the wild-west, laizze-faire, screw the little people version of it practiced in America.
