Mr. Mickens served as Principal of my high school, M.L. King, on the west side of NYC. He exemplified commitment and introduced a positive energy to our school. On a personal note, he helped me to get a summer job during my last year at King, and I returned to that same gig every summer until I finished college. He will always have my deepest love and respect. I consider myself very fortunate to have known Mr. Mickens, and I only hope that I can emulate his example over the course of my life.

Mr. Mickens was a great man for our school and the community. As a graduate of BGHS (class of '93), I owe him a great deal of thanks. RIP MR. Mickens, you will be missed.
