McCain Defends Palin Resignation: "I Don't Think She Quit, I Think She Changed Her Priorities" (VIDEO)
John McCain strongly defended Sarah Palin's decision to resign as governor of Alaska Sunday on "Meet the Press." McCain said he wasn't "shocked" by her sudden decision and doesn't think it will mean she won't be a major player on the national political scene:
I wasn't shocked. Obviously, I was a bit surprised, but I wasn't shocked. I understand that Sarah made the decision where she can most effective for Alaska and for the country. I love and respect her and her family. I'm grateful that she agreed to run with me. I'm confident she will be a major factor in the national political scene.\
Pressed by host David Gregory how, as a man known for his dedication and refusal to quit, McCain can plausibly say that Palin didn't quit her job, he replied, "I don't think she quit. I think she changed her priorities."
McCain also reiterated that he "knows" Palin is qualified to be President.
