(AP) WASHINGTON - U.S. Ambassador to Iraq Christopher Hill was among a group of American personnel who were uninjured when an explosive device detonated near their convoy in southern Iraq.

State Department spokeswoman Joanne Moore said the bomb exploded as the convoy was traveling Sunday through Dhi Qar province.

No one in the convoy was hurt, Moore said. She added that an investigation into the incident is under way.

Christoper Hill was apparently not injured. I believe that you are suggesting that our amassador was not among the injured. Were there injured or was the entire party not injured?

This headline is misleading. "WE" have never been to war in the past 9 years or so....The "war" is between our government allied with oil companies and Israel, and the Muslims in the Middle East fighting what they see as a crusader type invasion intent upon seizing their oil again....Personally, I have no dog in this fight.....Iraqis are not my enemies....nor are Afghans...nor Palestinians....neocons, yes...

A very simplistic world view...sounds good, but just is not tenable.
Once again, Israel, root of all evil...those damn JEWS, taking our money!

There is a distinct difference between "israelis" and Jews....if you can't or won't see that, you are too insular by far. There is a lot of truth in the saying greed is the mother of all evils...last I looked, that wasn't unique to "jews"....but, you know that, right?

We're at war??? I am so confused - what about that "Mission Accomplished" banner on the USS Lincoln? You mean it didn't mean anything? I need to increase my dosage of Prozac and take a nap.

Damn, the Bush administration was right! The Iraqis are saying their good-byes to us exactly in the same way they welcomed us.

Still at war, huh, I had no idea, wow, and they were targeting an ambassador. So what do we do now, jeez I hope this won't be an excuse for prolonging our stay in Iraq.

Surprised this is even news...why, revelations about what drugs were coursing through Michael's veins is far more urgent news to the American press than this!

"Iraq is more violent today than in 2002, thanks to people such as yourself."

Actually, I would grant that accomplishment to those who jump up and down every time a bomb explodes in Iraq because its another opportunity to say "Bush lied people died!" It can also be granted to people who refuse to acknowledge the stunning success accomplished by the heroic soldiers in the Iraqi Army because they see it as praising Bush.

People who say that Saddam was "contained"--like the so-called antiwar left and the isolationist right, like Buchanan--are basically saying that our national security interests were safe, so it was no big deal if the Butcher of Baghdad offed a few third-world nobodies every now and then. This is the conclusion Bush 41 reached and its become widely accepted today, sadly.

On the other hand, if the media would stop harping on and listing every single negative thing that has ever come out of Iraq--and if our leaders would ditch their political ideologies for a moment--Iraq would have a serious chance of succeeding. I keep in close contact with Iraqi friends in Baghdad and Mosul everyday and it startles me how different their hope for a better future is than the general picture my fellow Americans have formed.

Funny how the far left and the far right can get along just fine on certain issues, isn't it? Buchanan and Paul's rants about Iraq are indistinguishable from those of Franken or Olbermann.

I keep stating the obvious fact that we are seen a a malignant cancer on the face of Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan by their people and leaders. We must declare victory and pull back to the perimeters of the Middle East. We must regroup and rebuild and repay and ask the Almighty for forgiveness for forsaking our Constitution and our people.

"we invaded a peaceful country"

Peaceful? Is this a serious comment?!! People who make statements like this--as well as more extreme statements, like giving the title of "freedom fighter" to fundamentalists who swing back and forth from "resisting" the "occupation" to the outright mass murder of women and children--have clearly never spoken with someone living in Iraq or anyone from Iraq.

Saying that Saddam's Iraq was "peaceful", regardless of how you feel about Bush and the 2003 Invsasion, is nonsense.

OK, relatively peaceful, until we invaded. Before, a wonderland filled with ancient markets selling magic carpets; now, a besieged country with ancient markets selling magic carpets. And fries.

Saddam's killing fields were created in the 1980s when we supported him. By 1994, he was a paper tiger and his human rights record was no different than Saudi Arabia's. Iraq is more violent today than in 2002, thanks to people such as yourself.

Wait -- we're at war? But just this morning john mc cain was criticizing Obama for the second highest peacetime deficit in us history.

Oh, I'm so confused.

Say, I'm just as confused.

John McCain defended Sarah Palin on the same show, somehow trying to convince us (and himself):
"I respect that position and that decision," he said, "and I cannot tell you the appreciation I have for her."

So quitting is displaying the leadership qualities that McCain sees in a President? Or any elected official? And then McCain sees us in "peacetime"? Must be the same McCain who has the answers to finding Bin Laden, winning the wars in the Middle East and solving the energy crisis. He just won't tell us yet.

I'm mostly confused as to just who is more dangerously delusional: McCain or the airhead pentecostal flake he still claims has what it takes to lead America.

The Iraqies are at war with each other. We are just caught in the middle. Should never have gone in. They can sort it out themselves. Granted, we invaded a peaceful country and took out their leader, which unleased all of this. But there's nothing more we can do.

We're not at war. People just don't want us there.

Correction. The Iraqis are still at war. We're just still sitting in the middle of it all. Bring our people home, Mr. President.
