There are no consequences for anything in the US. None. All the bad actors come right back to the stage in 6 months, ready to take up where they left out. Nothing and no one fails. Conservatives have convinced themselves that their brand of conservatism didn't fail...we just needed more of it. Cheney and Bush do irreconcilable damage to the US that will take more than a decade to recover from, but there are no consequences...nothing to keep them from coming right back trying to foil any of those trying to fix what they broke. Nobody does anything bad enough to keep them out of the game for more than 6 months or in Cheney's case...6 days.

Laying blame is supposedly a childish thing to do. Well, that works out pretty well for the perpetrators doesn't it? Laying blame, punishing...all childish partisanship eh. Do we teach our kids that actions have consequences, but they aren't much and they don't last long. Let's teach them what is really true...if you get caught, pump up the chutzpah, admit nothing, return immediately to the stage and shame is for losers.

The conservative christian movement thrives on opposition... and when they got into office all they did was give corporations free reign. i dont know how they could reconcile fiscal responsibility with all the giveways that got us into this economic mess.

Well, Ralphie has a little family values problem. They preach women should be at home with the kids - but his OWN wife is the CFO of a major corporation. Once again, do as I say, not as I do. Reed has no substance, has terrible political baggage (I DO love the Abramoff chant) and no core to his beliefs since they change with the wind. I do agree we never should take our eyes off the religious right - NEVER - but they have lost so much credibility, and with The Family now in the public's view, so much of their hypocrisy and worse is coming to the surface, they will never EVER be what they once were. No change of "style" will be enough.

“It has to be younger, hipper, less strident, more inclusive and it has to harness the 21st century that will enable us to win in the future.”

****************************************************************

If he wants to harness the younger generation and the 21st century, someone might want to tell him that younger voters are deserting the GOP BECAUSE they're unwilling separate fiscal conservatism from religious conservatism.

The potential exists for a confluence of circumstances that may result in Palin's election in 2012 (the nomination is assured) and the return of Ralph Reed could be one of them.

No one paid attention to this guy in the 80s and we wound up with ministers telling parishoners who to vote for.

I'm not sure if he can hoodwink today's tech savvy young Christians the way he did their parents a generation ago, but this time around Dems/libs/progs must make sure to deconstruct this guy and mock him where ever he goes.

Just like they waved rubber flip flop shoes at Kerry and had Mr. Tobacco follow Bob Dole around, aggreived Native americans rhythmically chanting "Abramoff, Abramoff, Abramoff" must be wherever this man goes so no one forgets and everyone who associates with him knows the kind of crony capitalist he is.

Ralph Reed always reminds of the k.i l l.er puppet in the 1978 movie "Magic".

Remember:
Abacadabra, I sit on his knee
Presto, Chango and now he's me
Hocus, Pocus, he taketh her to bed
Magic's fun, when you're de.ad.

With the resurgence of "faith-based" politics, the economic disaster that the religious right help to bring about will end any hope of a reasoned and common sense approach to correct eight years of the disastrous Bush administration. We don't need the hypocrisy of these people to cloud our minds with their nonsense in order to gain power and control. Their family values is the real elephant in the room.

Ralphie is now officially a born-again born-again..... again.

Let's hope the GOP nominates Reed/Santorum in 2012. Almost everyone else of their current superstars are out "hiking" anyway.

Does this mean that the new coalition will be "hip" for Jesus. I mean, no squares allowed? You know, like "groovy" and "out of sight", man? Do you get my drift? Do you get where I'm comin' from?

Way out, Adartist. The new religious right promises to be hip, whacky and phat.

Well thanks for the grinz because lookin' at that guy's photo phreaked me out, never mind the hokus pokus stuff. I did find it amusing that he compares himself to the brilliant entrepreneur, Steve Jobs, returning to a welcoming Apple. Not quite.

Quick, somebody find where he's hidden his portrait and destroy it. It's the only way to stop him. (with apologies to Oscar Wilde)

Reed seems perfectly qualified for this reboot of the Christian Coalition: He clearly believes in the holy .principle of "do as I say, and not as I do". There is a part of me that firmly believes that the right-wing religious extremists in this nation will mean the death of our great republic. But, there is a greater hope within me that soon reason, empathy, and secularism will win the day against religious hatemongers like Reed and his ilk.

He's scary..............I think it's about time that Je sus comes -to these folks in a big smackdown for twisting His words of peace and love around to suit themselves, for their hate-and warmongering and having their palms crossed with our silver, all in His name. I wonder which Jes us hated more - politicians or "moneychangers".
