CHICAGO (AP) -- The White House, correcting earlier reports, says Michelle Obama's father is not buried at a cemetery where workers are accused of digging up and dumping bodies but at a cemetery nearby.

Spokeswoman Camille Johnston in an e-mail message on Tuesday said Fraser Robinson III is buried in Lincoln Cemetery. Earlier in the day she was quoted by the Chicago Tribune as saying Robinson was buried at Burr Oak Cemetery in Alsip.

The Cook County Clerk's office also confirmed that Robinson was buried at Lincoln, which is located in Alsip less than two miles from Burr Oak.

Robinson died in 1991 of complications from multiple sclerosis.

Michelle Obama's mother, Marian Robinson, now lives in the White House with President Barack Obama, her daughter and two grandchildren.

My mother is buried at Lincoln as well. I am relieved my mothers grave remains undisturbed and at rest. However, 3 of my wife's relatives were buried at Burr Oak and 2 are unknowns. Regardless, I am deeply concerned about the desecration of their loved ones. I am willing to bet I know of at least 1 person whose grave were disturbed. Regardless, I am concerned. Why are the the Obama's both unconcerned; only interested in saying they were not involved? Recently, Mr. Obama visited the NAACP; which was great. Mr. Bush avoided them for 8 years. Having a President was nice. But rather then be civil he railed. IToo much TV. Fathers abandoning their children. Poor educational achievement. Poor Black businesses. But he has no solutions that seem to penetrate.

Their loved ones disturbed. No response. Perhaps we should as black people put Thomas Dart in the White House or Richard Durbin. Given his indifference and his discumfort with things Black, perhaps we should put Al Sharpton in the White House. Well no, whites would never stand for it and blacks don't get the choice because of it. Mr. and Ms. Obama very well know we are a captive audience and they seem to be treating us as such. At least we remain where we were left.

For the same reason he refuses to visit New Orleans, I suspect he will only go that far south side if he craves De Cola' shrimp for his indifferent wife..

I'm being cremated when I die. I want to be kept in an urn with my family members. I don't want to be forgotten in a cemetery or have my body disturbed by grave robbers or cult members.

To the best of my memory, there was a cemetery that had bodies dating back to the slavery days. Some group of gang members decided to dig up bodies to get the skulls to use as a bong. They went to jail, but these things, however rare, do happen.

I see the oops here. Lincoln is in Alsip. I thought my family was at Burr Oak as well until My grandmother pulled out the Obituaries where Lincoln was listed.

OMG, I was horrified when I heard it reported on the radio that he WAS buried there. All kinds of disturbing thoughts ran through my mind. This is kind of a big goof, no? Somebody in the press office is going to be in deep trouble methinks.

You weren't horrified for the hundreds of other families whose relative were dug up?

Why does that matter he died in 1991. He was married for 31 years.

Well said.

I don't think the poster is implying that it matters, just that the poster is curious. No need to be snippy.

I like having the remains of my mother and father with me in this room as I type. It's not strange, it's comforting. I would rather their remains not be buried in a dark hole in the ground, where they will slowly rot under the control of possibly careless custodians, whose profit margin can get the best of their decency. Why should they have to live in rented property for how ever long we let the earth last.

Eventually they will be passed on to my children and my children's children, until either no one cares, or they are legend.
03:41 PM on 07/14/2009
Um, I think you might want to clarify that you are talking about your parents' cremated remains in urns.
03:47 PM on 07/14/2009
LOL, you're right; I thought he was a freak until "cremation" pop up in my head. I guess he got too emotional about this topic and forgot to clearly express where he was coming from.

No opinion nor fancy, just the facts, please.

I understand what you're saying. I will only be cremated and have remains scattered at an undisclosed location. In the meantime, I have one of my dogs' ashes kept in my home.
03:28 PM on 07/14/2009
So sorry for the families effected by this. As if people don't have enough problems right now that they have to worry about criminals doing things like this.

Oh how horrible for her! Oh....horrible
03:24 PM on 07/14/2009
That's why I believe in cremation. You can accompany your loved one's body to the crematory and watch them do it. Then you can receive the ashes. Cemeteries are a waste of land. And what happens when they run out of space. We have seen one possible solution.
03:46 PM on 07/14/2009
The way we care for, and grieve for, our lost loved ones is a very personal experience. Let's not pass judgement on each others preferences.
04:22 PM on 07/14/2009
How did I pass judgment on someone else's preference? I mentioned that I think cemeteries are a waste of land. That's not passing judgment. You may disagree, but how am I judging others? Therefore, no one should criticize people for buying gas guzzling cars. After all, that would be passing judgment on others' preferences.

This is heartbreaking for all. I hope justice is found for everyone involved.

Before the trolls start she probably didn't not know the full extent of this until she came back to the States. Also from read the President books she was very distraught after her father died.
