does anyone really believe that administrations, whether democrat or republican, have not always vetted applicants based on political orientation? it is naive to suggest that with any discretionary appointment, political affiliation or perceived political affiliation is not an important factor. to the victor go the spoils. it would be foolhardy to ignore the degree of friendliness that an appointee may have toward the overall goals of an administration. it does not surprise me that the bush administration took this obvious route. what would surprise me is that obama's administration would fill such positions with young republicans, members of anti-abortionist organizations or racists. the political process represents ideas as well as parties. liberals mistakenly expect the opposition to welcome dissent with open arms. ha!

Bush refused to hire qualified people and wanted unqualified people.

Can you, for one minute, imagine GW inviting LGBT representatives in for a reception to celebrate the anniversary of Stone Wall Inn and announcing to one and all that he is on board to sign a congressional bill overturning DADT? If you believe that could have happened, you have really been asleep for the past 8 years.
