Sarah Palin's political action committee -- SarahPAC -- raised $733,000 in the first half of the year and is set to push past $1 million in the wake of the recent attention she's gotten herself. On the one hand, this isn't that impressive. Mitt Romney, for instance, has raised twice as much. Kay Bailey Hutchison, Palin's sometime rival who is now running for governor in Texas, raised nine times as much. For somebody with a political celebrity dwarfed only by Barack Obama's, that's just not all that much cashflow.

I can only surmise that Palin is raising the money, not to run for public office and if she did she would surely lose, to finance her travel in order to make speeces and pay her mounting legal bills She's still governor for a few days, and I do believe there's an ethics violations complaint brewing about this.

The fact is, with all the money she's getting, she's still supported by a "grassroots" base who aren't significant in numbers and who are irrelevent even by moderate republicans' standards.

The fact is that for every dollar Sarah raises, she raises 5 for the dems.

I am still concerned that Palin has a total of six websites all collecting monies for her. It appears that just this one PAC is registered with the Federal Election Commission, as that is the only one reported. This means the other five sites are not following federal law regarding reporting requirements. I really hope someone looks into this.
