Willie Geist

"Way Too Early with Willie Geist" will air at 5:30 AM on MSNBC beginning on July 27, the network announced Wednesday.

Geist, who will remain a co-host on "Morning Joe," will anchor the half hour leading into MSNBC's signature morning program in what network president Phil Griffin called a "pre-game show." His program will offer viewers "everything they need to know to start the morning - from news and politics to sports and pop culture," the network said in a release.

Geist, who recently welcomed new baby George, has come to be known for his humorous features on "Morning Joe," such as "News You Can't Use" and his "Week in Review," as well as his satirical video blog Zeitgeist.

"In 30 fast minutes, we'll set the agenda and tee up the debates for the day," he said in the announcement. "Whether you're waking up on the East Coast, passing out in the West, or suffering from an untreatable sleep disorder somewhere in between, 'Way Too Early' will be a one-stop, A-to-Z crash course for your day."

I'm up this early because I don't have a job, I'm worried about healthcare, and russian subs are cruising close to the US. Perhaps I'm a little justified in not sleeping so well.

Morning Joe show is the worst morning news show on TV. MSNBC does not listen to it's viewers so they keep losing them. Mika has to go and take Geist with you...

Well this will be another foul ball for MSNBC !!
They have completly ruined the morning and afternoon schedule !!!
Thank God there is Olbermann and Rachel Maddow or MSNBC would be out of the news business !!!

No More Mornings or afternoons, I watch Olbermann and Rachel Maddow!!
The gentleman who sat in for Chris Mattews last week belongs there !!!
He was an intelligent and very informative replacement !!
He should replace matthews permanently !!!!

With a 5:30 AM timeslot, this show is teed-up for almost EXCLUSIVE East Coast and/or beltway consumption. Can you imagine the promos? "5:30 AM Eastern, 4:30 Central and 2:30 Pacific". And you can't DVR "current affairs" or news programming becasue it's not news after about 15 mintues. Just a "filler" for a timeslot.

You are so right. Where I live, the show will come on 3:30 a.m. No thanks.
