Bloomberg: Police Should Drag Senators Back to Work (PHOTOS)

NEW YORK (AP) -- - Mayor Michael Bloomberg says the governor should dispatch state troopers to haul state lawmakers back into session. He wants them to approve the bill giving him authority over city schools.

The 2002 law giving Bloomberg control of the nation's largest school system expired last month.

The mayor and the five borough presidents hastily appointed a school board to keep the system running.

Bloomberg has been urging the Legislature to pass mayoral control again before the academic year.

Senators passed dozens of other bills late Thursday and early Friday but struggled to finish for the summer, not reaching an agreement on mayoral control.

A Paterson administration official says it's not likely a special session will be called before Labor Day.

Does this gentleman understand that NY state cops have a little thing called "jurisdiction?" I don't know about any of the NY Senators (sounds more and more like a sports team, doesn't it?) but if someone sent cops to drag me back from vacation, the *last* thing I'd do is vote to give him another term in power. actually, he just keeps buying elections and making backdoor deals with other politicians (like the one with christinky quinn). no one can go up against his money. he has already bought his third term to the tune on multimillion dollar tv ads and there's no solid opposition candidate even. his five borough plan is turn manhattan into a wealthy playground and give the screws to the other boroughs.

Spitzer was getting ready to expose the fact that state AGs could not protect their own people from predatory lending practices. Gov Blago came out against Bank of America saying his state would not do business with them

Both of the prosecutions were brought by illegal wire taps and a direct result of going up against the banks.

They spent a month behaving like children in a circus and then have the audacity to go on vacation without getting the work of the people done? Bloomberg is right. He is the best mayor we have had since LaGuardia. The schools have improved 10-fold under his control. They have a long way to go, but it won't happen if he does not have control. The man knows what he is doing... He has every right to be pissed at the Senators.

The City's education system has suffered far less under Bloomberg that it did under the previous corrupt School Board System.

Education as a national priority has diminished year over year since Regan began to dismantle the mandate.
