The legendary news anchor Walter Cronkite is dead at age 92. Among many other achievements, "the most trusted man in America" helmed the "CBS Evening News" for nearly two decades, ending in 1981.

Today, our nation is fighting two wars: one abroad and one at home. While the war in Iraq is in the headlines, the other war is still being fought on our own streets. Its casualties are the wasted lives of our own citizens.


We the people have the strength to bring our country from our weak-kneed stumbling gait in the last ranks of reason to the leadership of the great march to environmental victory.


I've got some other exceedingly interesting pieces up my sleeve, like a proposal that the Democratic Party organize a convention this year to debate and resolve a platform that would provide the confused electorate some idea of what the party stands for...a regretfully missing ingredient in the politics of the moment.
