foxnews.com:

In an interview with InStyle magazine, the "Grey's Anatomy" actress and star of the upcoming movie "The Ugly Truth," says she is "ashamed" of herself for continuing to smoke, adding that "it's so stupid."

But one thing Heigl, 30, doesn't feel any shame for his expressing her opinions even when it gives her a bad reputation.

She should also be ashamed that she doesn't know how to play more than one character. You can literally change out her character from Grey's Anatomy with any of her characters from any of the movies she's done. She's more one note than Jennifer Anniston could ever hope to be.

I quit alcohol and drugs 22 years ago. Still smoke and it is probably going to kill me in the end. No, I am not ashamed of being a smoker. However, the rest of the world sure trys to make me feel ashamed. No one can make ONE feel anything and I have to chuckle as they try. Yes, many of you will tell me that the joke will be on me in the end.

Ashton Kucher, Ellen DeGeneres, David Blaine, Sir Richard Branson, and Sir Anthony Hopkins used this method to stop smoking. Ashton Kucher talked about it on The Tonight Show.

With the facts we have concerning smokers and the damage they incur to themselves and those around them, she should be red in the face with embarrassment.

Yes, I mean look at Japan who has more smokers per population than the US but they have about half the LCDR's.... (Lung cancer incidence rates)...

Also, the number of smokers in US has gone down since the 1950's by about 25%.... 50% of population about 60 years ago adn today it's more like 20-25%

We have yet to see a similar drop in heart disease/lung cancer/etc since then...

So... who's puttin up the smoke screens?

That's the least of her problems.

There's nothing worse than seeing an absolutely gorgeous woman with a cigarette in her mouth. That might have been great in the 30's and 40's but it doesn't make a great impression in todays world.

I think she is a lovely, talented, very funny actress. If she wants to stop smoking, I think she will. People generally do what they really, really want to do. In my experience, anyway.

Still smoking after 35 years. Still feel fine. Still not ashamed.
My father smoked Camel straights (no filter) for 35 years. Then, he went to filtered cigars and smoked them for another 27.
He's 83 now and aside from 2 knee replacements, healthy as a horse.

God bless America. We are free to try to kill ourselves in any number of ways, be it fast food, smokes, booze, prescription drugs, or any other vice. Hope you have the same luck as your pappy but I wouldn't bet on it. Your dad being cancer free all these years is like saying one cold winter is proof of no global warming. There are exceptions to every rule.

Yeah, they sure don't have all that anywhere else...

Oh, wait...

"Hope you have the same luck as your pappy but I wouldn't bet on it."

Actually, his is not a unique case. The oldest woman in the world is a smoker, and she said that if anyone wanted to tell her to stop, they shouldn't lOL.

Same with the Oldest man today. Well, he quit after 97 years of smoking...

These are not "exceptions" these are the oldest freaking people living today k?

Stop getting brainwashed by big pharma who wants to peddle their brand of nicotine gum at the expense of truth...

I hope that she quits. it's a nasty habit. I used to smoke a long time ago, but quit cold turkey when my wife became pregnant. My mother smokes, so it's hard for us to be around her, especially with our kids.

I hope she looks after her health.

Who cares? Only Americans are so uptight that people are vilified for smoking. I'm not saying it's good for you, just that this whole stigma thing is so overblown. Smoking doesn't make you a bad person.

You're right. It doesn't make you a bad person. But smoking around other people DOES make you a bad person.

No kidding. Some of us have family members who smoke and we know they are not bad people, just people who made a very unfortunate health decision. I'm glad there is a stigma attached to it, because smoking does kill you. One way or another. Oh yeah, and I forgot to add that people who live with you develop asthma and allergies from second hand smoke.

Newports, crack, what's the did

Big difference. Use your head.

Let's see:

Smoking tobacco is legal, whereas smoking crack is not.

Tobacco is probably more addictive than crack.

Tobacco is responsible for far more illness and death than crack.

Walking down the sidewalks of the city, I'm constantly annoyed by second-hand smoke from tobacco smokers, whereas I've never once encountered second-hand crack smoke.

Those are the main differences I can think of offhand.
