Heroin Chic: Drugs Making Big Return

Heroin On The Rise In NY

Call it the retro-trend gone awry, but heroin and designer drugs rarely seen since the 60s and 70s are on the rise across the city.

Coming on the heels of the overdose death of artist Dash Snow and a huge drug bust in Riverdale over the July 4th weekend that netted a "half-million glassine envelopes of heroin," the New York Post is reporting that the NYPD is tracking the seizures of drugs like BZP, DMT, and quaaludes "being peddled to customers in nightclubs and karaoke bars."

While a throwback to the old days, the drugs have been updated to fit the times. Police report finding BZP tablets "shaped like 'Transformers' figures" or made to look like Obama campaign buttons -- presumably not the "change" the President was calling for.
