Newsweek:

NEWSWEEK's disclosure that attorney General Eric Holder Jr. may appoint a prosecutor to investigate detainee abuse has revived tensions in the Obama administration about how to deal with Bush-era controversies. CIA Director Leon Panetta and other agency officials were blindsided, and say Holder is spinning his wheels: they argue that the CIA inspector general's report, which the A.G. told associates "shocked" him, was delivered to the Justice Department more than five years ago. "This has all been reviewed and dealt with before," says Paul Gimigliano, a CIA spokesman.

Leon Panetta, once a Republican and now a conservative Democrat, "blindsided" by probe?

Why?

Was a deal made between him and Obama when he took the job?

With a hidden camera, a group from Australia confronts torture lawyer John Yoo during one of his recent classes at Berkeley. With a black hood over his head, the unidentified man stands on his chair, outstreches his arms and asks the professor, "How long can I be required to stand here "til it counts as torture?"

Breaking News, ......Judge rules CIA committed fraud in court
By NEDRA PICKLER (AP) – 1 hour ago

WASHINGTON — A federal judge has ruled that CIA officials committed fraud to protect a former covert agent against a lawsuit.

According to court documents unsealed Monday, U.S. District Judge Royce Lamberth referred one CIA attorney for disciplinary action. The judge also is considering sanctions against five other current and former CIA employees, including former CIA Director George Tenet.

The suit was brought by a former agent with the Drug Enforcement Agency, Richard Horn, who says his home in the nation of Burma was illegally wiretapped by the CIA in 1993.

Tenet filed an affidavit in 2000 asking that the case against the former station chief in Burma, Arthur Brown, be dismissed because he was a covert agent. But Brown's cover had been lifted in 2002, and the CIA continued to say he was under cover

"As it turned out, the pair were "engaged in DNA sequencing that could provide 'a genetic marker based on genetic profiling'." Thomas writes: "The research could play an important role in developing weaponized pathogens to hit selected groups of humans--identifying them by race. Two years ago, both men were found dead, in circumstances never fully explained."

I hope that the above link is BS, because if it is not, then we are really in deep shite. This reminds me of the claim that the CIA worked on ethnic weapons in the 1960's.

Sounds like AG Holder is doing something good, but read on: "Justice officials say any review will not involve investigating senior Bush officials who ordered enhanced interrogation techniques."
This is part of a cover-up; a "white wash".
Let's get Cngress to get a special prosecutor and indict the war crimminals and true conspirators who destroyed our reputation and continue to rid our rights to the United "War Incorporated" State.
Enough obfuscation!

I think the statements about not prosecuting Bush officials who wrote legal opinions are based on what Holder can take to court, so far. He has to meet an even higher standard of proof than a good reporter does. Once he starts an investigation, facts that have been discovered by Seymour Hersh and others will be proven to Holder's satisfaction and then the judge's satisfaction and then Cheney, Gonzales and Yoo will be convicted and put away for life. Probably others, too, but those crooks for sure.

Guess Panetta was hoping everything the CIA did during the last eight years was just going to get swept under the rug.

Suggesting something is easy. Proving it is hard, which is why this investigation will go nowhere. Nobody has any proof.

"[Sen. Bob] Graham is known as a meticulous note-taker and has maintained a daily log that fills hundreds of spiral notebooks, which now reside at the University of Florida Library of Florida History.

"'Several weeks ago, when this issue started to bubble up, I called the CIA and asked for the dates in which I had been briefed,' Graham tells [NPR reporter] Robert Siegel. 'They gave me four: two in April of '02, two in September.'

"Graham says he consulted his logs 'and determined that on three of the four dates there was no briefing held.'

"He adds: 'On one date, Sept. 27, '02, there was a briefing held and, according to my notes, it was on the topic of detainee interrogation.'

"Graham says the CIA was initially reticent when he told the agency what he had found in his notes.

"'They said, "We will check and call back,"' Graham recalled. 'When they finally did a few days later, they indicated that I was correct. Their information was in error. There was no briefing on the first three of four dates.'

"Graham says the agency offered no explanation regarding how it came up with the other dates."

Uh........................., I haven't heard one word of apology from the MSM and Repubs for the hatchet job they did on Pelosi! Seems she got pilloried for telling the truth! Of course, Repubs know that, but the temptation to go after Pelosi was just too good for them to pass up!

Putting all the attention on Pelosi just took the media's eyes away from the lies told by the CIA to ALL of the Gang of Eight and the Republicans's shameless protection/coverup for the LIAR IN CHIEF and his V.P.!

Sure, just like nobody could have seen 9-11 coming. What an idiotic complaint. He knows that what President Obama says about prosecution is his personal opinion and that what the Attorney General decides is independent of political considerations. One must believe that Panetta just arrived in D.C. from Mars to believe his feigned indignation. That's a pretty poor attempt at misdirection, Leon.

I invite you all to imagine the clever, inoffensive things I would have posted, since the trembling m0dUlators will have none of it.

At some point, the pa/ran/oid fear of litigation becomes much worse than actual oppression.
