What's Your Reaction?

On Tuesday's Daily Show, Jon Stewart dedicated the program to talking about climate change, and The Waxman-Markey Cap and Trade bill. He immediately got so bored that he fell asleep into a cream pie:

Stewart then interviews Secretary of Energy Steven Chu, and asks him tough questions like how he handles climate change deniers: "As a scientist, can you physically when you get angry, bust out of your clothes and get really big and destroy them as The Incredible Secretary Chu?"

Stewart then exclaims: "You're the first Cabinet member I've met from the Obama Administration that seems alive! "

John, John, John....you missed a great chance to question Chu on why he canceled DOE funding, after only 2 weeks on the job, of the most environmentally friendly technology in the world which was HYDROGEN FUEL CELL research.

Or you could have asked him if he had his Council on Foreign Relations membership at the same time that Dick Cheney was a director of CFR.

People, there is no longer any credible debate on this issue.

Arctic ice cores have proven CO2 levels since 1900 have never increased this much, or this fast, at anytime in the last 650,000 years on our planet.

Whether this is the primary cause of global warming isn't even the issue; it's a matter of air and water quality, the health of our oceans, and finally replacing our reliance on fossil fuels with energy sources that are both clean and renewable.

If we are serious, let's implement actions now. 32% of the CO2 is personal consumption. If we are to achieve our 80% reduction in CO2, we must insist on taking personal action today. Limit every family to 1 auto. Those who commute alone, must move to a motorcycle. Ban all air conditioning. Thermostats in all homes need to be government regulated and set to 66degrees for winter. All homes need to be limited to 5 light bulbs. Families will be allowed only one TV. All businesses and stores will be required to be closed before sundown. Ban all private planes and all private boats. No cars allowed in the cities, only motorcycles.
We must prohibit the building of any new individual homes, only multifamily housing. Homes larger than 3,000 sq ft need to be broken into duplexes to 4 plexes. Ban all new housing in the suburbs. Any new housing should be multifamily, built next to the factory so that people can walk to work.
We need to ban any new household appliances. Hand wash clothes and dishes. Clothes can be dried on the balcony. Provide incentives for people to turn in their current appliances. Ban any new freezers. Refrigerators must be cut in size to 4 cu ft. Grocery stores should eliminate frozen food sections and required to shrink refrigerated sections to 10%

You make an excellent point.

Unfortunately, those pushing cap-n-trade and honestly believe AGW will kill us all, don't seem to be concerned about altering their own consumption.

Perhaps Stewart could have the following climate scientists as his guests:

Influence of the Southern Oscillation on tropospheric temperature

J. D. McLean
Applied Science Consultants, Croydon, Victoria, Australia

C. R. de Freitas
School of Geography, Geology and Environmental Science, University of Auckland, Auckland, New Zealand

R. M. Carter
Marine Geophysical Laboratory, James Cook University, Townsville, Queensland, Australia

Why?

Because they have published a peer-reviewed paper which states the following:

Overall the results suggest that the Southern Oscillation exercises a consistently dominant influence on mean global temperature, with a maximum effect in the tropics, except for periods when equatorial volcanism causes ad hoc cooling. That mean global tropospheric temperature has for the last 50 years fallen and risen in close accord with the SOI of 5–7 months earlier shows the potential of natural forcing mechanisms to account for most of the temperature variation.

Despite all evidence to the contrary, the left just will not quit with their lies. There has been no warming since 1998, temperatures are falling everywhere and the solar cycles say we are heading into another ice age. Why do these people keep beating this dead horse? Money and power. It’s a perfect way to control the citizens and people like Al Gore, who has at least two carbon credit selling businesses, can continue to commit fraud for profit.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 42% of U.S. voters now believe human activity is the cause of global warming, while 40% say it is caused by long-term planetary trends.

While the numbers are close, this is the first time more voters see human activity as the primary cause of global warming since January. In May, voters blamed planetary trends by a 44% to 39% margin.

The United States public’s opinion of the invasion of Iraq A USA Today/Gallup Poll, taken prior to the invasion in March 2003, indicated that 75% of US citizens felt the invasion was not a mistake.

If you had polled 10,000 doctors 30 years ago on the cause of stomach ulcers, over 95% of them would have told you stomach ulcers were the product of excess stomach acid often related to stress. There were two nut jobs who would have told you stomach ulcers were caused by a bacteria.

less than 2/1,000 of all CO2 is produced by human activity. So even if we wiped out every car,
power plant, jet liner, and human being from the face of the earth, there would be no noticeable effect on global CO2 levels.

Where have these points been debunked? I really welcome the chance to read any data and scientific points that debunk his points. I am trying to read a variety of sources. Please provide some valid scientific sources. At the same time science requires an open mind. Have you read any of the sources noted by Romeo? He has provided some very credible references. That is why scientists do not call it Global Warming. It is CLIMATE CHANGE. Our climate is getting unpredictable which is making it hard for farmers and their crops and hard to predict more severe weather. Rain in Africa is getting very scarce. We will have cycles of unprecedented hot weather, cold weather, wet and dry weather. You need to read a little Romeo and stop listening to what liars tell you. I'd like you to explain HOW and WHO would be getting rich from the US going to sustainable fuels. I want names of people who will benefit and how exactly. I can give you the names of the Climate Change deniers-Exon Mobile, Conoco, Chevron, BP-want me to keep going? These oil companies want to continue to sell their product at inflated costs. If we go to solar, wind, geothermal and hydrogen who are the companies that would be getting rich and gaining power? C'mon I'm waiting. Guess what the names of the people that would benefit the most are you and your kids. Me and my kids because we would be able to breath cleaner air and have a healthier planet.

The climate change is caused by global warming.

CO2 emissions WARMING the planet is the foundation of "climate change".

This "climate change" is causing massive, destructive hurricanes.

Al Gore stated that the Myanmar cyclone was due to global warming:

http://www.businessandmedia.org/printer/2008/20080506160205.aspx

"we’re seeing consequences that scientists have long predicted might be associated with continued global warming.”

Yet, tropical cyclone activity has dropped over the last two decades with a steady decline in higher-intensity storms.

This year, tropical cyclone activity is at an historic low:

http://www.coaps.fsu.edu/~maue/tropical/

•Update: July 22, 2009 including dissipated TYPHOON Molave in the WPAC
On the heels of the record inactive years of 2007 and 2008, current 2009 activity has fallen well behind the pace of the previous 2-years. The ACE to date is the lowest since 1998 and only 40% of the previous 10-year average. Record inactivity continues and has so far shown no signs of abating.

Al Gore's fear-mongering has been refuted by actual data.

The climate scientists that Al Gore quote were wrong. That fact is irrefutable.

Are the scientists at Florida State who are monitoring cyclone activity on Exxon's payroll?

Are they publishing false data?

Sadly, Obama does not want Cap N Trade legislation to include penalties on importers who produced carbon dioxide when making the imports. Obama does not care about protecting American jobs. He has chosen his friends and his victims.

Job losses are ramping up because Obama put Wall Street crooks in charge of his economic policies instead of Main Street.

average person has been misled and is confused about what the current Global Warming debate is about,
greenhouse gases. None of which has anything to do
with air pollution. People are confusing Smog, Carbon Monoxide (CO) and the pollutants in
car exhaust with the life supporting, essential trace gas in our atmosphere, Carbon Dioxide (CO2).

No, only you have been thus confused.

If somebody has been telling you that smog and greenhouse gases are one and the same, you can be assured that this person is not a scientist.

If you remotely care about either issue, it's a pretty simple step to look up the facts and figure things out for yourself.

But you post this every time a global warming article shows up, showing that either you remain deceived, or you one of the deceivers.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 03:47 PM on 07/22/2009

Lets just do the math according to the US Government:

The real numbers are in 1850 there was 270 ppm of CO2 in the atmosphere. In 2005 there was 380 ppm of CO2 in the atmosphere. So since petrol burning engines have been around the CO2 has grown by 110 ppm. 110 divided by one million equals a percentage change because of gas driven engines of .011 percent change. As an example if you bought a gallon of milk for $3.00 means your milk went up 3 cents. Would you change your world for the gallon of milk that now costs $3.03!!!

Every study points at water vapor as the largest greenhouse gas. Wator Vapor? Yes, clouds. Can anyone of you name two scientists who follow this greenhouse co2 theory? I doubt it.
