TIME:

People want to take better care of themselves -- not despite the recession but because of it, according to Packaged Facts. The firm expected sales of relatively costly edibles like pesticide-free beef, oils and veggies to crumble as more folks started minding their wallets. But it's not happening.

It is problematic that you show a refrigerated case in plastic containers. We need to ban refrigerated and frozen food sections from all stores. We need to ban the individual plastic packaging of foods. Buy the organic foods, fresh from the farmer.

Foods that are in season, preferably locally grown and in many, tho' not all cases, organic, simply taste better than processed material. And these ingredients do not necessarily cost more in terms of time or money if people take a little time to learn a few new things.
The one are we have refused to even consider economizing is in the food we eat. Not only that, but our food costs have not increased in years, even tho' our eating habits have changed greatly.

Of course the vested interests will try to convince the uninformed and/or the lazy that to change anything is foolish and expensive...they depend on being able to do that.

USDA Organic is a joke. The "standards" do not apply if they will lower corporate profits.

CCOF was more concerned with those they certify and who pay their salaries then consumers and our rights.
And the USDA is owned by corporate food manufacturers

Very good point. It is often an advertising ploy. There are a few credible producers, but many that exploit the rules.

Organic food is a waste of money.

I actively farm, know all about organic and conventional. Organic is a waste of money.

Hr 2749 is designed to stop the organic food trend. It will tax local farmers $500 a year to participate in farmers markets, regulate how they grow their food (forcing them to use pesticides) and will fine them $100,000 if they don't comply. Meanwhile none of this will apply to food from Mexico or China. Call you Representatives and tell them NO to the food police.

Organic food is just one of those obvious dividing lines between the haves and the have nots.

Organic food isn't that expensive. Have you ever been to Trader Joe's?

You simple minded little greenies. You are so easily fooled.

Because the fast food lobbyists made the happy meal less expensive than broccoli! Yet take a good look at the children that happy meals produce: overweight, lethargic, with health problems of a fifty year old!

Get with it man ;-)
