Angelina Jolie

Recently Brad Pitt sat down with BILD and talked about his career, his motorbike obsession and getting as well as fielding questions on God and his life with Angelina Jolie and their six children. Pitt was promoting his upcoming Tarantino WWII movie "Inglourious Basterds."

BILD put the article online, as well as an English translation. Sex and God highlights below, whole English interview here.

ON GOD:

BILD: Do you believe in God?
Brad Pitt (smiling): "No, no, no!"

BILD: Is your soul spiritual?
Brad Pitt: "No, no, no! I'm probably 20 per cent atheist and 80 per cent agnostic. I don't think anyone really knows. You'll either find out or not when you get there, until then there's no point thinking about it.

ON HIS FAMILY:

BILD: Angelina told me once about your giant bed where all eight of you snuggle up?

Brad Pitt: "Yes we have a 3 metre wide bed, but even that isn't big enough. They all come crawling in in the morning. It's just about surviving! We all have sleep deprivation."

BILD: Do you find the time to make love?

Brad Pitt (looks puzzled): What?

BILD: Is it sometimes just the two of you?

Brad Pitt: "Yes we make time for ourselves. It's very important for every relationship."

BILD: How? Do you fly off somewhere?

Brad Pitt: "That's a trade secret!"

"Inglourious Basterds" opens in the US on August 21st.

Okay as a recent biology graduate, I have to make stop the ignorance behind the statement, "survival of the fittest." It has been inappropriately applied for the longest among everyone and it must stop now.
A species "fitness" is just the ability to produce offspring. It has nothing to do with intelligence, ability, or skill. Just the production of offspring.
I'm sorry American science education has been manhandled by ignorant and non-scientific community for so long. Okay my job is done. Carry on everyone with your "debate" on religion or lack of of a higher power.

"Survival of the fittest", is NOT a term coined by Darwin. It was invented by the philosopher Herbert Spenser (1820-1903) trying to extrapolated Darwin's theories to culture and politics. He was a notorious ultra right wing loony. Marx wanted to dedicate Das Capital to Darwin too, so he has been hijacked by both sides for their purposes... and lets not forget Hitler. But Darwin himself firmly believed that altruistic behaviour evolved in humans (see his book Emotions).

A good book to read dealing with the naturalness of altruism and moral behaviour in primates (including humans) is "Our inner Ape" by renown primatologist Franz Del Wal.

Sometimes I even think that religion is a way for circumvent our natural conscience. So much evil is done in it's name.

Here's something for all Christians to consider, it is estimated some 40,000 people were burned alive, hung or exorcised to death by your churches because of perceived witchcraft because of superstitious religious belief in an imaginary devil. It has now been proven that it was actually Ergot poisoning in the contaminated rye bread they all had been eating. It is a where the drug LSD comes from. These supposed witches were in fact poisoned and tripping on LSD, not possessed, here is just another of the many proven religious frauds you can all ad to your talking snakes and rising dead myths. If you still persist and call yourself Christian you must also ignore these facts and remain ignorant and void of all morality and crimes committed on behalf of your cults!

Okay, now I certainly DON'T believe in the fundamental Christian mindset of religion, however, let's just say it WAS true, that we knew it to be true...

If going to Heaven means having to deal with insufferable, judgemental, self righteous know it alls all day, and worshiping a God so petty that he would send someone to hell simply for being gay or not worshipping him the right way, no matter how good a person they were...

then I'd gladly take my chances in hell.

Yeah if that's the case I'd rather go to hell too. At least there would be interesting conversations, and no christian music.

yeah that's reason enough to go to Hell right there - Listening to "our God is An Awesome God" for the rest of eternity is about as bad an afterlife as I can imagine

Sorry Brad, those that deny Him end up in trouble. It seems the more blessings a person has, the less willing they are to give thanks to the One that made it all possible. Hope Brad realizes that before long, children raised without G*d, are very confused and without anchor.

I have nothing against God or those who believe in him. I am not religious but I generally believe in a creative force, even if I don't think it's anything like the paternal character God is usually characterizes as.

But YOU don't get to say if OTHER PEOPLE are confused or unanchored.

I have met plenty of confused and unanchored Christians, and plenty of people raised without religion who are perfectly happy and well adjusted.

characterized rather, not characterizes.

And by the way, why is it that the deep south and midwest, the most religious regions of the United States, have the highest divorce rates, violent crime rates, spousal abuse rates, STD rates...basically every social ill in existence is highest in the most religious areas of the nation.

Then look at Scandanavia, which is probably the least religious region in the world. They have some of the lowest crime rates, drug use rates, spousal abuse rates, etc...virtually every social ill in existence is lower in these nations than anywhere else in the world.

Poverty and lack of stability is *probably* the #1 thing that makes people confused and unanchored, it certainly isn't lack of religion.

wow. That's some petty and narcissist god.

So, you believe because of fear. Because what the alternative to not believing would be.

I find the opposite - Being raised religiously i was confused, and losing my religion anchored me and dispelled my confusion.

I agree.

I was raised Catholic, and was constantly struggling with the hypocracy and contradictions which were apparent to me. I was constantly struggling with the very heavy burden of guilt which was forced upon my by my parents and church officials for what I believed to be "bad thoughts" but in reality were simply normal human emotions.

After I shrugged off the Catholic Church, I was a much happier and well anchored person.

Most republicans claim to have been raised with God, and look at how evil and deceptive they turned out to be. With or without God, children, who are raised to respect and treat everyone with dignity and understanding do very well in any society!

Dyslexic the in me read that title as: "God, Brad Pitt doesn't believe in sex with Angelina Jolie". And Brad, we are all in a computer generated sim world. You and Angie won. It's time to sign yourself out and meet your maker. He/she is the one scratching belly, scarfing mac & cheese, watching G4 on Direct TV, living in another sim world, created by some being in a world far, far away.

I want to short circuit the whole "Morality comes from god" argument.

If so, then why do chimps and gorillas live in social groups (troupes) and selflessly care for each other? There is no Gorilla Jesus that I am aware of? I don't see Gorialla churches in the jungles.

We need "morality" for the sake of survival. For the sake of our FAMILY. If we spent all our time fending off killers we wouldn't eat, and consequently no more killers would be born. (DUH)

Survival without others is meaningless. Humans are social animals, we NEED society. We need it and the rule of law because it helps us raise our children in safety. Senseless killing runs contrary to survival therefore societies of ALL human and ape do not tolerate it.

But deeper than that, we all have a family and we all want to see them happy and safe, we also want to win the recognition and admiration of others. Why? Because it makes us feel good.

Please stop with the idiocy.

This is an excellent point.

There are countless examples of empathy, altruism, and selflessness in social animal groups, especially with those with higher brain functions- whales, dolphins, apes, elephants, etc. There are countless examples of members of such groups risking their own lives for the sake of an unrelated individual who is also a member of their group.

There have even been instances of such animals saving and caring for other animals which are not even of the same species.

As you state, morality is a survival technique, and a very useful one.

Powercosmic, If the Gorillas did have a Gorilla God he would have made all Gorillas in his own image though wouldn't he? This is where the atheist mammals use their human intelligence and understands and the religionists mammals just don't get it and continually use the monkey part of their brains, especially the creationist that are slowly de-evolving!

Religion is a form of control - and to get 10% of your money.
It's all based on astrology.
In winter, on Dec.22, the Sun goes to its lowest point in the sky - it "dies" - and stays there for three days. Then, on the 25th, it starts to rise again - it's "resurrected".They're not talking about an actual being, they're referring to the giant gasball that keeps us alive.
That's just one example...

Now assume there is no God or immortality of the soul. Now tell me, why should I live righteously and do good deeds if I am to die entirely on earth?...And if that is so, why shouldn't I (as long as I can rely on my cleverness and agility to avoid being caught by the law) cut another man's throat , rob, and steal... - Fyodor Dostoyevsky 1878

If you are only a good person because you fear divine punishment you are pathetic. That goes to all of you who constantly spout god=morality arguments.

Pheh. Pathetic.

One may suggest that people's sense of morality comes from God , not from fear of punishment or even belief of God. Therefore believer or Non-believer have an equal sense of morality.

Conversley, the animal kingdom is not ruled by morality, but on the principle of survival of the fittest.

What Brad Pitt said is my mantra right now because:
A) I'm trying too hard at believing in God right now
B) I try too hard at having sex
C) I read the book & saw the movie "Girl Interrupted" and I loved Angelina in it (I even tried to act like her character when I got thrown in a psyche ward and now that I'm out I will try to act like an ambassador to Goodwill).

Is it just me, or is Angelina Jolie morphing into a grotesque caricature of herself?

Before long, she would be perfect in remake of "Sunset Boulevard."

Angelina does look sort of drag queenish. I hate too be caddy and say that while of course she has beautiful features and a great body, it seems maybe she isn't aging well - because who knows what any of us would look like taking on the challenge of adopting, bearing, and raising 7 kids in 7 years. She claims they have one nanny who leaves at night. Maybe she's trying to look like a made up movie star while also trying to "have it all" - in spades.

Jennifer Aniston still looks great because she hasn't attempted, or been given the chance, to "have it all." She's never given birth (not that that affected Angelina's body, don't you hate her for that?) and she spends sometimes $30,000 at a pop to fly her hairdresser Chris McMillan with her around the world....and she doesn't have to worry about sticky hands ruining on her blowout (unless they're John Mayer') .

She's also just a different type, she'd look pretty in a ponytail and sweats though you never see pictures of her that way, whereas Angelina's career was built on her looks being exoctic. Exoctic must be harder to pull off because when she's been in simple makeup and hair at things like the Oscars lately she still looks beautiful.

I can't believe I'm spending time thinking about this.
