How to recycle a hair dryer? If you are seriously green, why to you have a hair dryer. If we really want to achieve 80% reductions, we need to ban all small appliances. We should also eliminate the larger appliances starting with clothes dryers. Dry you clothes on the balcony. We need to take personal responsibility.

The best choice for the environment, of course, would be to not have a hair dryer at all--and to not have a computer, a car, a cell phone, electricity... But the goal of this column is to encourage and inspire everyone--ardent environmentalists and wannabe greenies alike--to become better citizens of our planet.

Thank Heaven! As a rural Iowan I shudder when I watch the media try to sound intelligent on matters of the environment, especially as it pertains to the rural community. Farmers make up less than 2% of this nation, but we are the source of your food and a major source of your economic security. Our urban brethren must be knowledgeable and be able to make sound decisions regarding agriculture and our nations food supply. By 2045 the global population is expected to jump from our present 6 billion to around 9 billion. It's not hard to see that sustainable agriculture will not just be a campy way to sell news, it will be a matter of survival. I know you'll have to entertain as well as inform, but please appreciate the brevity of your task. Thank You, so much!

What a great idea! I'm stealing it ... immediately ... and taking it to our local newspaper! This is the type of thing that can move environmentalism forward in months, instead of decades!

I look forward to this column! We need to find ways of making the concept of "green" an inclusive one, rather than a concept that simply applies to folks living in Seattle, San Fransisco, Los Angeles, or New York. It's hard to make the green agenda stick in places where manufacturing, construction, and agriculture make up most of the economy. Perhaps this column will do some good to that end! www.scribd.com/moulicohen
