If it's only around 3 months old, it's mother has probably been killed.
That's too young an age for it to be alone.

I hope the mother is alive and that the cub is reunited with its family. I agree, it is too young to be on its own. The stupidity of people confounds me.

This reminds me of another story I read some while back, about a pakistani villager who found another beautiful species, the himalyan leopard. He found the cub after the earthquake there. I understand the mother had died in the earthquake. He raised it and eventually when it got too big, I believe the pakistani wildlife society took it. Eventually when he became an adult, he was gifted by the pak govt to the U.S. I think he now resides at newyork zoo or something. At least a happy ending there.

This gives me hope that after we destroy ourselves that our blight on nature may still have a chance to survive.

This is one of those "good news-bad news," stories. The good news being that there are still clouded leopards breeding in the wild, and the bad news being that there is now the equivalent of an "all points bulletin," or a wanted poster put out on these animals. Do I think that there are now unscrupulous poachers out hunting these animals, and if they are found, we won't be reading about it here. Those people won't make the mistake of announcing their good fortune again.

Probably some ancient Chinese recipe for a soup made with their gall bladders to increase fertility or some such nonsense.

I'll bet this cub doesn't survive. These people have sh*t for brains for capturing it in the first place. Now, how does a 3 month old cub find its' mother and avoid being killed by other predators or ignorant humans? Will the mother accept the cub if it finds it, with human scent all over?

They should have kept it at a reserve that specializes in re-releasing animals into the wild until it was big enough to fend for itself. It is unlikely that it will find it's mother again, so I hoped they at least tagged it to help monitor it's progress until it matures since it is severly endangered animal.

We are unworthy custodians of this planet. Our grandkids are going to be pretty angry with us, I think.

sadly, i think you are right. such magnificent gifts on this planet as these great cats, and what have we done except destroy them?

i hope this little family is able to find its way back together through some miracle, and i hope they and others like them are never found again.

thank you for alerting every poacher

This is a great article from the BBC about how one of India's main tiger parks - Panna National Park - has admitted it no longer has any tigers. Corruption and poaching.

Yes, the poachers read the internets for game availability tips.

GallopingCat are you trying to be silly or funny?

I am sayin that the smoke signals sent from the celebrations would have alerted the poachers.

Sorry - were you saying that the natives cant read, or have not discovered computers or did you simply not read the article which discusses how this is big news in the village and surrounding area.

Unfortunately, the monkey that the cub was found eating was the last remaining one in Bangladesh.

I can't understand how someone can separate such a little cub from it's mother. Terrible.

This baby was released and is now on its own away from its family? It will most likely just get "cubnapped" again. I'll never understand people who take a baby animal away from its family, it is one thing if the mother had died or abandoned her cubs. Humans and their meddling, yet again.
