Andy Rooney: Walter Cronkite Was "A Best Friend," "I Just Liked Him A Lot" (VIDEO)

After struggling to deliver his eulogy at last Thursday's funeral for Walter Cronkite, Andy Rooney spoke about his friendship with the recently deceased newscaster Sunday night on "60 Minutes."

"Walter Cronkite was a really good friend of mine, a best friend," he said. "I didn't just know Walter well, I didn't respect him, I didn't revere him. I just liked him a lot."

As he reflected on 65 years of friendship, Rooney said that he and Cronkite never struggled to find things to talk about, but that they could also sit in silence if they wanted.

"I wouldn't trade Walter Cronkite liking me for just about anything I've ever had," Rooney said.

On Thursday, Rooney's eulogy was emotional. He stopped speaking abruptly and walked off the stage, unable to complete his remarks because he was so overcome with grief.
