Mets GM Calls Out Daily News Beat Writer, Adam Rubin (VIDEO)

Yesterday Mets general manager, Omar Minaya, announced the firing of assistant GM, Tony Bernazard. During the press conference, Minaya and Daily News writer Adam Rubin got into a heated exchange of words.

Ironically, this press conference was called to diffuse controversy surrounding the Mets' organization, and to quietly let Bernazard go after he had created multiple distractions for the team over the past year.

When asked about his feelings when he first heard about the Bernazard allegations, Minaya admitted he was skeptical about the reports because they came from Adam Rubin. The Mets GM alleged that Rubin had lobbied for a job within the organization in the past, and he believed that Rubin might have his own agenda for publishing these reports.
About a half-hour into Minaya's scheduled press conference Rubin took the Mets GM to task on these allegations.

Rubin: The only conclusion I can draw from that is that you're trying to allege that I tried to tear everyone down so that I could take their position. Is that what you're saying? It's pretty despicable to say that.

Rubin spoke to reporters after Minaya's press conference and vehemently denied these allegations. He stressed that he was curious, as any observer would be, about how these executives got their jobs within baseball.
