Fox Host Glenn Beck: Obama Is A "Racist" (VIDEO)

What's Your Reaction?

This morning on Fox and Friends, Fox host Glenn Beck accused President Obama of being "a racist."

The group was discussing the recent Gates controversy, and Beck exclaimed that Obama has "over and over again" exposed himself as "a guy who has a deep-seated hatred for white people or the white culture. I don't know what it is..."

When Fox's Brian Kilmeadeon pointed out that many people in Obama's administration are white, so "you can't say he doesn't like white people," Beck pressed on. "I'm not saying he doesn't like white people, I'm saying he has a problem," Beck said. "This guy is, I believe, a racist."

GB is acting stupidly. We all know BHO is not a rascist. He is a discriminator.

I am not totally a fan of the show, but I do not think or feel that the learning curve of anyone is particularly enhanced through firing them. The issue of a higher cause is that most of the people at this range of skill are still at a learning curve. The fact of winning someone is more in line with keeping them and modifying behavior in real time than perhaps one or two unseemly words for a career. The facts are, that reinforcing error is the result of jobs that are pointed up or down. The real thing is a public censure and the market itself watching in front of its TV a person improve at heart rather than forced economic depravity. Taking food, clothing and shelter for success is not a very high evolution for the employment process. Why not have him review a behind the scenes approach of learning why his statement may have been so painful and then the solution as a Desmond Tutu being upfront and learning in real time – and don’t do it again.
Life is a sport and one word or so to create fatality is beyond educated growth for anyone. We learn with occupation and he has a position that soured is a loss of occupation. Give him a big break and few hail Mary’s for good. Fair play is different than liking someone or not. I choose to be a citizen of earth, and local rude is not good enough.

So Glenn Beck is just a commentator, not a reporter. Commentators called Bush a racist on much less (and if you think Obama's past doesn't have substantial evidence to support Beck's theory you need to pay more attention). Nobody made a big deal about it when Bush was similarly criticized.

Why the double standard?

I think part of the problem comes down to semantics. When Beck calls someone a racist he means that person discriminates people or pre-judges them based on their race, whereas minorities think of lynchings when they hear the word racist.
justmyopinion1   10:46 PM on 8/24/2009
Being a minority, I would appreciate it if you didn't make assumptions about what we think. When we hear someone called a racist, we think it means someone is being discriminated against because of their race. We understand the definition of the word just like you do. The only thing that makes me think of lynchings is the white robes and noose. Don't confuse the two.
fishingbabe8   07:26 PM on 8/22/2009
There is a reason for that. MSNBC and CNN are so left wing that their twisted spins don't even make sense anymore. Fox News, we report, you decide.
Perspicackle   03:08 PM on 8/16/2009
Scientifically there is no basis for dividing humans into race based on skin color anymore than hair or eye color. However most people insist on remaining racists - ie, believe in races in humans.

I had the same first reaction as Glenn Beck. O'bama did show his deep seated feelings. He showed he still had a chip on his shoulder.

I can't help but remember Kanye West during the Katrina telathon, looking into the camera and saying George Bush hated black people. A few weeks ago in Cambridge Police Officer Crowley was accused of being a racist. Everyone is so quick to get on Beck. I want to hear the context of why he said this.
zoser35   10:45 PM on 8/12/2009
Perhaps none of this will penetrate but let me try. (1) The reason that West made the charge about Bush was because he seemed totally indifferent to the black people who were suffering during the days of Katrina. (2) The reason that Crowley was/is accused of racism is because he stayed around and provoked a 60 year old black professor walking with a cane in order to arrest him in his own home even after he was shown ID that proved that no crime was being committed.
Now tell me what was Beck's reason for speaking so stupidly?

Heck, Obama can't be a racist. After all, his own grandmother was a 'typical white woman'.

White women are pretty typical.
emd2   05:27 PM on 8/24/2009
Beck's comment is nothing unusual. It is honestly true, but it is not ok for a white man to call a black man a racist even though our illustrious president was the first person to call that Conneticut police officer a racist. White men are the most discriminated against in this country and if you do not believe it open your eyes and just watch and listen. Our country is going to Hell in a handbasket and our "wonderful" president is taking us there faster.
zoser35   09:35 AM on 8/08/2009
One would think that even someone as dense as Glenn Beck would understand that a culture whose primary value seems to be uncontrolled greed would understand that it might have a down-side for our caring President.
REAL American   10:22 AM on 8/09/2009
you mean your caring president who just sold you out to the pharma companies? the one who cares so much about you that he's running your country into unescapable debt? who is building a giant takeover of your private life by promoting a lie disguised as energy independence, going green, free healthcare? who will just as quickly sell us all out once he has what he once? he is no MLK and he is not above corruption. he could care less about any of us unless there is something we can do to help him. i want peace and equality soooo bad, just as much as anybody on here but we're not going to get it as long as we keep following lie after life after lie...no more dems no more repubs they are both corrupt! i don't care if our leader is black, white, purple, whatever, as long as he REALLY DOES care about us and is honest. Obama and nobody in congress is honest, nor do any of them or the czars for that matter care about any of us. Money is what everything is fueled by. Money and power, please people open your eyes and wake up!
66gardeners   09:09 PM on 8/09/2009
once he has what he once? Are you kidding met?
zoser35   10:03 PM on 8/09/2009
REALA:
First of all, we know that President Obama is not Martin Luther King. There is no reason to expect that he should be. He chose law and politics as a career whereas Dr. King chose theology and human rights. He does what most politicians must do, compromise.
Secondly, where are you getting all of your info about what he is doing or proposing to do in regards to energy and health care the right-wing looney tunes brigade?
As far as I can see the proposals that the President are actually calling for would be much better than what we have today.
As for corruption, it comes with the system and has been since it was set up by a group of wealthy slave-owning "founding fathers", so don't expect that a single politician will change the system in six months especially since everything he proposes to do is being fought tooth and nail by vested interests.

Really?

Really?

You really believe this? " a culture whose primary value seems to be uncontrolled greed"

Primary value? Are you kidding?

Wow!

Elijah Kaeser   04:43 PM on 8/12/2009
Uncontrolled greed sounds about right, unless you want to blame our current economic issues on American Stupidity. But you don't really want to do that, do you? Let's face it, we didn't get here through intelligent money management and budgeting.

Please mail to all companies advertising during Glen Beck:

I have seen your advertisements on Glen Beck. Glen Beck has called the President of the United State a racist. He has joked on TV about poisoning Nancy Pelosi to death.

Do you want the Radio Shack brand name to be associated with a known racist and individual who fantasizes about killing public officials?

Radio Shack advertisements during the Glen Beck Show directly support this hate speech. As a result, I will no longer purchase your products until you stop advertising during the Glen Beck show.

Further, I have informed my friends not to purchase your products because Radio Shack advertisements are directly supporting racism and the killing of public officials. It is my hope that they will not purchase your products and inform their friends not to purchase your products.

Please do right by the American people and remove your advertisements and stop supporting this type of racial hatred and threatening talk toward public officials.

Thank you for your time,

Sincerely,

Or,

Thank you for advertising on Glenn Beck. I will now buy twice as much of your product that I normally would.
invantix   08:36 PM on 8/27/2009
I don't get fox news but it sounds like this guy says some crazy things. I don't know if it makes him a racist just ebcause he says the president hates white people and white culture. I have heard other comentators say similar things about Newt Gingrich, Dick Cheny, George W. Bush and Ronald Regan and even wish they were shot. No one went after those people a hard as people are going against this guy.

I am not a republican or a democrat. I think they are all a bunch of crooks that spend millions getting jobs that pay thousands so they can divert billions of tax payer dollars to their friends, They all do the same thing they just have different people in their pockets.
Matahar   04:56 PM on 8/07/2009
But Obama is half-white himself and was raised by his white grand-parents.
sreggie   05:23 PM on 8/07/2009
But he identifies himself as a black man, not a biracial man. His jumping the gun on the whole Gates thing was a prime example of his identity.
HikeMusa   03:45 PM on 8/13/2009
Ahh, his jumping on the Gates thing was an example of someone coming to the defense of a friend. It had nothing to do with race. He even apologized for jumping the gun in defense of his friend.
He has never denied the fact that he is biracial, or tried to preclude it from being a part of who or what he is since coming on to the national arena.
Lets try to stick to the facts people.

Lauren Jarvis   11:11 PM on 8/13/2009
Gates is his friend. I believe most agree he should have said nothing, but you can fault him for wanting to defend his friend. And what is wrong with identifying as Black? Are we not citizens too?
fishingbabe8   07:19 PM on 8/22/2009
Because his mother was irresponsible and didn't take care of him. You think that could jade someone? Yeah, just a little.
RIConservative   03:07 PM on 8/07/2009
I wonder why it is so hard for anyone to believe that anyone who is not white can be a racist...
LDS50   05:48 PM on 8/07/2009
Where is that said? And what evidence to call our president a "racist?"
mozartt   02:29 PM on 8/07/2009
Is it possible that there could be someone in the media who is more wrong than Beck. I can assure you that President Obama would not be getting the bad press he gets if he were a white person. People of the United States wake up. We live in a multicultural society, one in which intelligent, reasonable people realize that thinking or saying that persons with Black skin are somehow lesser than is not only scientific rubbish, but also shows a level of ignorance that is unprecedented. Look around you - I won't list all the other nations in the world who have successful citizens, because it might appear that the benchmark is a white American male. Again, I repeat myself, does anyone see the lunacy in this!! It appears that some Americans still believe that the white male is superior and frankly I feel sorry for them. I have a white skinned husbad, white skinned sons and daughters and white skinned friends and I can assure you that in our family thinking that we are superior to others is incomprehensible. Is it because some white males feel that their "stolen superior position" will be somehow infringed upon if we allow those women, and black folk an equal voice. Well, again, look around you. We are all equal and no racist is ever going to chance that fact!!
LDS50   05:51 PM on 8/07/2009
I disagree. They did it to Clinton. They malign so they can get back to power. Race just makes it easier (fear mongoring).
fishingbabe8   07:20 PM on 8/22/2009
Remember all the "bad press" Bush got? Last time I checked he was white.
Zackius   07:04 PM on 8/24/2009
First off please stop your whining. Grow up sometime. The day for complaining about whites this, whites that is over. You have stretched that line of crap as long as you can. Lets be honest for once please. Everyone hates someone for something. There are many black people out there that believe that they are superior due to there skin color. Its people like you that never let that conspiracy theory rest. You are the type of person that manifests bad feelings inside of others tempting them to believe that there really is a world if white people just wanting to be power hungry black haters. Yes there are white crazies and yes there are black crazies, but just be honest for a change. When you go out in life everyday, does every white person want to take your job, does every white person want to lynch you or something? Well I could say that every black person I meet wants to take my job, or hates me because im white, but that would be just plain ignorant. Stop complaining for once please, geez it gets old!!!
