I've been to the NW corner of Africa. It's called Morocco. The entire area - Morocco, Algeria, and Tunisia - is called the Maghreb roughly Arabic for western.

Interesting, fact about Morocco, that President Obama pointed out in his speech at Cairo University, Morocco was the first country in the world to recognize the sovereignty of the new American republic.
