Fred Barnes: Palin Has A "Whiny Edge" (VIDEO)

In the wake of Sarah Palin's resignation, even conservative magazine editors are getting tired of her relentless anti-media shtick. Charles Krauthammer said Monday on Fox News that her complaints have a "whining quality." Fred Barnes of the "Weekly Standard" agreed:

"There is a way to deal with the press. Look at the way Ronald Reagan did. He didn't attack the press. He teased them. He made fun of them. He jokes about them, embarrassed them. It was great. People loved it and it didn't have that edge, that whiny edge that you always want to avoid."

Granted, Palin's speech has the inflections of an untrained speaker. No doubt many would forgive her tone and the grating quality of speech if there were evidence of some underlying grasp or focus on issues other than Palin herself. Her resignation wouldn't have been a huge deal for me, except for her need to cast doubt on governors who complete their term as "milking it". It's one thing to have a "whiny edge", but that kind of rationale is "whiny content".

While I don't recall the particular brand, her toenail polish colors have already been reported on.

Last week her toenails were painted "Mavericky Mauve" and the week of the big family fishing trip (where she gave the press her lame duck quittin' interviews) she was wearing "Slaying Salmon Pink". This week her toenails are painted "Beaver Blood Red" in anticipation of the media massacre she insipidly set herself up for with that hypocritical, rambling good-bye speech she gave.

She's got a naturally whiney sounding voice, I think. And she makes it worse with her condescending, snarky, sing-song, sarcastic attitude. From day one she reminded me of one of those nasty high school girls with the maturity level of one. Still does. She may be a political star, but she's never going to get anywhere attacking the media. Any politician knows the media is your friend. You have to know how to handle them because they're always going to be criticizing you. It's the nature of the business. You cannot avoid it. That's one thing she never learned. She claims to have thick skin. What a joke.

Now I've heard it all.

Pick anyone as a candidate for US president -- preferably a star -- give (in this case) her "free time to learn more about issues." Make sure she "is willing to do the homework that is necessary on domestic and foreign affairs" and disciplines herself to "study up on stuff."

That really hits the lowest common denominator of bottom feeding strategies.

How desperate and pathetic. What an international laughing stock.

They forgot two key subjects to include in the curriculum: separation of church and state; and the certain death knell for politicians who dare to venture into the politics of vicious untrue innuendos and diversions.

You guys can expect to get a one way email from the "gatekeeper" for these comments. And the frustrating part is that you can't fire back. These guys practice censorship that sometimes rival China, writing provocative headlines sure to draw a reaction, then snipping everything in sight to manipulate the reaction. Pathetic, really. The best comments are when you read the entire article of places where they don't do this.
