I Like ItI Don’t Like It

The contest to be the member of Congress saying the dumbest possible things about health care has just gotten ratcheted up about a thousand more notches, thanks to North Carolina Representative Virginia Foxx. Foxx, if you recall, was the congressional luminary who declared the story of Matthew Shepard's murder a "hoax," right in front of Shepard's mother. She's a delight for the senses, especially the stupid ones!

Anyway, today she came up with a brand new health care reform objection when she said that the Republican health care plan -- whatever that is! -- would "make sure we bring down the cost of health care for all Americans and that ensures affordable access for all Americans and is pro-life because it will not put seniors in a position of being put to death by their government."

[WATCH.]

Astutely noting that the "Democratic legislation actually provides professional guidance for seniors' difficult decisions -- NOT to encourage euthanasia," Media Matters has provided a whole heaping ton of factchecking that concludes that no, seniors will not be put to death by the government. At the same time, maybe we should have the CBO score out the concomitant Social Security cost reductions that Foxx's fantasy would entail.

I wish they would say she represents a very rural, backwoods district in northeastern North Carolina. Here in Charlotte, there are a few thinking progressives, but not enough to elect a Dem. At least Sue Myrick isn't a complete lunatic (and she doesn't speak out much).

Yes Virginia, there IS a Clause...and we evil Dems are going to make sure you go to the head of the "senior hit list".... **rubbing hands & cackling maniacally***

Consider it doing your civic duty to lie quietly on the table while we slip you the gas....LOL...........

It has always amazed me that these people have no qualms about lying, cheating, and calling names--you name it. Yet seem to believe when they do all these things it is okay because somewhere in their hate speech they use the word God to make their verbiage believable and plausible.
People like this do not deserve tax payer health care. I have heard some statements from our leaders (I use the term lightly) to the effect that employers are not required to pay for health care for their employees. Well, then, why are these idiots entitled to healthcare at our expense?
We need to change the laws somehow, someway that these reps should in no way be allowed to give themselves raises nor should they be entitled to have healthcare at taxpayers expense. Let them get their own care and see how the health industry really works.
And for Rep Foxx--I have always believed what goes around comes around.

Unfortunately, much of her age group is unfamiliar with "new media" like HuffPo...

They tune into FOX News every morning and get ready for another big day of penny-slots, bitter prune juice and fist-shaking rants about black people on welfare.

I suppose it would be really hateful to suggest who should be the first...

Don't tell me... Flush Limburger is the lovechild of this gal and John Birch, right?

Why are Republicans so addicted to fear and propaganda?
How sad and cold is their world that they imagine (or pretend) that the President and select Democratic Senators lay awake at night divising complex ways to kill babies and old people?

This goes beyond misinformation and arrives at the place which psychologists refer to as "Paranoid Delusion".

Seriously, how do these people get elected to Congress? I consider myself an intelligent individual and can't for the life of me figure out why I have to struggle to get by while these type of people live cushy stupidity filled lives. Does this type of behavior deserve a salary of $175,000 a year?

I'm sure the GOP spent many times her salary just to get her in there.

Here's hoping there's a good Dem running against her at reelection time.

those health care and farma companies are probably paying her big bucks to villify the bill, but she probably wants MORE money - so she's started saying suchstup idstuff that they'll soon be paying her MORE to stop!

I doubt it. She's probably the "bad cop" so the less conspicuous weasels will look like "good guys."

Words almost fail me. What a stupid thing to say in the first place but in front of live cameras?
I think she should be the first in line for the scoopers and Soylent Green.

Really strong, intelligent women are too threatening to the spoiled brats in the GOP. Little Republican boys will only let girls play if they're obviously no threat.

Everybody's healthy here in Canada, and soooo young too. How do we do it? Well, we have public health care. AND
We eat the elders. But first, marinate them for a long time, as they tend to be very tough and stringy.

She's definitely in the running for the Insano of the Year Award, but the competition is very stiff in her party. They are giving the lunatic fringe a bad name.

Listen, granny. Its 2009. We have a black president. We have the internet (ask you grandkids about it). Women have the right to an abortion. Your selfish generation's greedy lifestyle set the example on mindless waste and consumerism that our planet is now dying from. So don't lie to us about healthcare reform. We need a public option. If you understand simple economics, its the only solution, not to mention the only moral one. Take your religion and your mindless ancient ideology back to 1950.
