The Denver area lost 55,200 jobs during the year ended in June, a 4.3 percent decline, the U.S Department of Labor reported Wednesday.
Unemployment in the Denver area, meanwhile, stood at 7.9 percent in June, up from 7.5 percent the previous month and 5.1 percent a year earlier, the report said. It said 111,200 Denver-area workers were unemployed in June, up from 104,800 in May and 71,600 in June 2008.
