Vitter

Sen. David Vitter (R-La.) on Wednesday fired back at a fellow Republican senator who declared southern conservatives the party's biggest problem.

Sen. George Voinovich, the former governor of Ohio, made waves when he told The Columbus Dispatch "we got too many Jim DeMints and Tom Coburns."

"It's the southerners," he said. "They get on TV and go 'errrr, errrrr.' People hear them and say, 'These people, they're southerners. The party's being taken over by southerners. What they hell they got to do with Ohio?'"

Vitter -- who is looking at a potential re-election battle against adult-film star Stormy Daniels -- responded to the comments in an interview with The Washington Times, where he criticized Voinovich for voting last week against an amendment, sponsored by Vitter, which would have made it easier for people to carry concealed weapons.

"He's a moderate," the Louisiana senator said, "really wishy-washy."

Vitter -- who admitted to a "very serious sin" in 2007 after his telephone number appeared among those associated with an escort service -- said that the GOP should focus on restoring conservative values.

"I'm on the side of conservatives getting back to core conservative values," he said. "There are a lot of us from the South who hold those values, which I think the party is supposed to be about. We strayed from them in the past few years, and that's why we performed so badly in the national elections."

Man, this guy is deluded! The LAST thing the GOP should do, assuming it values its existence, is to fall back on its base. Campaigning on, and trying to legislate, "conservative values" -- whatever the heck that means -- is part of what got the GOP in this mess in the first place.

Maybe the GOP will die, and something else, something better, will emerge. Better yet, some things.

All these GOP values candidates are blatant hypocrites. They're adulterers, thieves, use prostitutes, and keep recycling the worst policies. Policies that have nearly ruined the country but they act as if they are shocked at how bad things are. They don't see the insanity in their positions as every utterance of theirs is either a complete reversal of what they said previously or outright wrong. Vitter wants to be a standard bearer? He's a pervert. And all those bible thumpers who live together in Washington? A house full of religious fundamentalists who have all broken a slew of commandments. But as long as they can forgive themselves and trust in the lord, then it doesn't matter. What a great way to live. Do what ever you want. Break any rule. Lie, steal, cheat. Just say you have turned to god and he has forgiven you and that's it. Of course if you don't happen to subscribe to their brand of religion or political thought, then you should be condemned and thrown out of office. They are so totally unaware that most people see this hypocrisy and why more and more the GOP is being sent to the fringe. People have seen the abyss these morons ushered in and have grown up to elect responsible people with intelligent and logical plans.

Which family values, paying for hookers? Or is it the other unsaid Southern values, the ones with pointy white hats.

"There are a lot of us from the South who hold those values, which I think the party is supposed to be about. We strayed from them in the past few years, and that's why we performed so badly in the national elections."
No Mr. Vitter, it's BECAUSE of those values that the GOP lost. There are a lot of us independents out here who aren't thrilled with congressional liberals or Mr. Obama so far, but who would never in a million years vote for your far right wing so called "values. " How bout instead of retreading the old and out of date "values," and racial tension you actually come up with ideas to move this nation forward not backward. Here's a hint, none of these "new" ideas should include the Bible or the 2d Amendment, which I know is hard for right wingers who consider these two items the holy grail of their utopian theocracy.

Only an extremıst considers a moderate to be "wishy-washy." It's the extremısts of whom we have to be wary. Extremısm became a problem in government in recent times when the relıgıous right commandeered the Republican Party and insisted that biblical principals not be compromised. The very reason relıgıon and government do not mix!

Yes, we know that Southerners have their own set of values, and we fought a civil war to overcome them. We do not need a return to Southern values.

"I'm on the side of conservatives getting back to core conservative values..."

You mean the values that brought our country to the brink of collapse?
You mean those Christian values that would control all aspects of our behavior?
You mean making the Bible the exclusive text for science and history?
You mean denying global warming in an effort to hasten the rapture?
You mean going to war on a lie?
You mean denying health care to the poor?
You mean supporting a multi-class society where white guys like you are in charge of everything?
You mean making FOX the only available 'news' source?
You mean studying the words of Limbaugh, Beck, and Palin not Franklin, Jefferson, and Washington?

Not for me, buddy, not for me.

When he says "southern" he means Klan, and when he says "values" he means racism.

I can't wait to see Vitter try to attack his opponent (adult-film star Stormy Daniels) for her previous career choice.

Attack? He may try to date her.
