wouldn't it be refreshing if the catholic church could get past the "be fruitful and multiply" message? we await the pope who says the equivalent of 'mission accomplished' and petitions his followers for a more sane, earth friendly, smaller family course. what served a world when the population was in the low millions just doesn't make sense when we count heads in the billions.

A common misconception ( no pun intended ).

The goal is not to populate the Earth.

Rather, the goal is to OUT-populate all them "others" that don't believe that God (whomever she is) talks to some guy with a funny hat...

No apology for the silence during WWII either, so what else is new. The catholic church owns land that houses nuclear plants, and these revelations did not surprise me a bit.
The good part about this story is, that a magazine, der Spiegel, went and investigated the claims that the bank made. That is journalism that is missing in this country, that things are being questioned and investigated, not just where Britney Spears ate dinner, or the break up of a docu drama family....

But no appology for the molestation of choir boys by Catholic priests?

Of course not. I don't think they would've fessed up to this, either, if Der Spiegel hadn't uncovered them. The issue is the money, of course. They would've lost money as angry investors left. The child victims (not just boys, by the way, Google "The Magdalene Laundries" for more) can't do anything to the Church, they're mostly poor, so they can safely be covered up, ignored, and, if absolutely necessary, paid off.

And the Catholic Church has provided Lou Dobbs with a reasonable facsimile of documentary evidence that this very same company once sold Barack Obama's Non-Catholic mother an early version of their birth control pill proving, beyond any doubt, that Obama may actually have never been born at all.
