Brazil Wants Its Residents To Pee In The Shower (VIDEO)

RIO DE JANEIRO -- New TV ads are encouraging Brazilians to save water - by urinating in the shower.

Brazilian environmental group SOS Mata Atlantica says the campaign, running on several television stations, uses humor to persuade people to reduce flushes.

The group says if a household avoids one flush a day, it can save up to 4,380 liters (1,157 gallons) of water annually.

SOS spokeswoman Adriana Kfouri said Tuesday that the ad is "a way to be playful about a serious subject."

The spot features cartoon drawings of people from all walks of life - a trapeze artist, a basketball player, even an alien - urinating in the shower.

Narrated by children's voices, the ad ends with: "Pee in the shower! Save the Atlantic rainforest!"

Good idea. Even better: Use soap and water instead of toilet paper. Shower hoses make this most efficient; inch-and-a-quarter drain pipes also help. Save a tree! Pee on it. Being a southern white boy, I can't help but whip it out when a tree and a little privacy comes together in my stream of consciousness.

A group of my co-workers got into this very discussion one day. Of course we were all having a great bit of comedy with it, and what came out was that all of us 'confessed' to peeing in the shower - it was adjuct to already being in the shower but still..... cute video.

We also go with the "If it's yellow let it mellow, if it's brown flush it down" We usually flush about the 4th or 5th time after taking a leak. And we follow that rule very strictly during the night.

The odd thing is in L.A.during the last drought (when I lived there) the mayor was telling everyone to cut water consumption by 15 percent and we cut it by 20 percent. The first thing the water district did was cry for raising the rate for water because of all the money theyr were losing by the 20% cut AND THEY GOT IT.

So we did the right thing and started getting charged MORE for using less.

the trick is to pee directly to the drain hole below you so you will not pee on your legs.

me too! also i pee on several trees. the one loquat tree that gets at least two a day is twice as large as two other loquats that were planted from seeds at the same time. people are squeamish about urine because they are misinformed. pee is sterile. lots of vitamins,minerals and nitrogen. great for a compost!!!

Great Idea,I never use a toilet to urinate, toilets are for feces not high nitrogen fertilizers... it's good for your plants it's good for the planet... just use a bucket dilute the urine w/ water, water said plants , if you lve in the desert pee on your cacti they'll love it just don;t get in the habit of peeing on just one plant (it will die...just like if you use too much store bought plant food)

well, i won't say that i've never done it, but i find that it relaxes those muscles too much, and exacerbates any of those over 40 female problems with leaky plumbing.

We should also be marking our territories by peeing on trees and bushes in the yard. Think of the crime it could prevent. Instead of calling up the Alabama National Guard today, the sheriff in Alibam should have encouraged citizens to mark their territories.

I'm a girl and I never pee inside ! However, I'm not "wandering the yard". And there is no "just because" in my motive. It's really because there are, undeniably, places where nitrogen adjuncts are useful, and others where they are not.
