What's Your Reaction?

Are you a fashion model, celebrity type or upscale socialite? Then get yourself over to Chelsea for the extra auditions for the 'Sex and the City' sequel!

Of course you will have to elbow out these self-proclaimed fashionistas and models who are rather confident they've got the right look. Amy Robach of the 'Today Show' reports from the eye of the storm.

i think this vid demonstrates what is wrong with shows like "sex and the city".

even with minority members right in front of her, the interviewer selected only those that represent european standards of beauty for her specific questions.

sex and the city, and show like it, homogenize major cities and perpetuate an image that there are certain levels of social strata untouchable by minorities.

i try to rarely make such general statements, but i feel confident in saying that any socially conscious person should loathe what shows like this stand for.

Each of them have a better chance getting struck by lightening than get picked up for gigs like these. Should've listened to the parents and gotten a useful degree in something that pays the bills, rather than shill their bodies (and souls), with a short expiration date, in the name of art and fame!

If you think living in NYC is any way like S&TC, then that's pretty sad.

Does anyone else hate the term "fashionista" as much as I do?

I don't know what these women think fashionista means. None of them look like they could be cast as office staff dressed the way they are and they think they're "fashionistas"? Did they even *watch* the show?

Well actually, they could get cast as office staff on a casual Friday.

Forty years of femi nist indoc trination and this is what what women aspire to?

*sigh*

Where to start... Since 90% of the women in the US were raised Catholic or some variation of Christian, where women are still considered second class citizens, it's amazing how far women and society in general have come. More to the point women currently make up around half of all graduate students working toward a doctorate or law degree which is a far cry from 40 years ago. Even more to the point what book did you pretend to read that used the term "feminist indoctrination" or was it from a Phyllis Schlafly speech?

Thank you for your intelligent comment, writerjohnny. It's nice to know that some people are doing their research on the status of women today. To add to your facts, there are more women than men pursuing their undergrad degrees today. As an educator myself, I spend a lot of time reading academic material, but I still enjoy reading about entertainment--it provides a welcome break from the more serious side of life!

God, I remember the days when acting was a profession...And SAG extra work helped a professional actor to qualify for health insurance coverage...

OMG. Like, sex in the city is like, totally the best. I so wish I could be like Carey because she's like so cool. My life would be so awesome if I could be like her and have like a 50K/month stipend at bergdorfs. LIke, Im so glad women love this stuff because like, it just shows girls whats most important in life, and like vapid consumerist fashionista culture is like such a great thing.
