Brad Pitt Defends Gay Marriage, Talks Love, Pot And Grotto Sex

Brad Pitt takes the latest cover of the upcoming Parade to promote his upcoming "Inglourious Basterds" and dishes on being a dad, why he won't marry Angelina and grotto sex.

On when he'll marry Angelina Jolie: "I have love in my life, a soul mate-absolutely. When someone asked me why Angie and I don't get married, I replied, 'Maybe we'll get married when it's legal for everyone else.' I stand by that, although I took a lot of flak for saying it-hate mail from religious groups. I believe everyone should have the same rights. They say gay marriage ruins families and hurts kids. Well, I've had the privilege of seeing my gay friends being parents and watching their kids grow up in a loving environment."

On the right to love: "It's ridiculous that Prop 8 took away gay people's right to marry! I have no understanding of that kind of hatred. Maybe it's fear of difference or of the unknown. If you feel belittled, maybe you need someone else to belittle to feel powerful. It's the only way I know how to explain it. You've got religion telling you what to think about homosexuality, about marriage. They say homosexuality is a choice, a lifestyle, something you can be cured of, and that isn't true. But if you're tucked away and have no friends who are gay, you'll believe what the preachers say. Just think of it in terms of being in love-how would you feel if someone told you that you couldn't be with the person you loved?"

On smoking the good shit in the olden days:
I liked to smoke a bit of grass at the time, and I became very sheltered. Then I got bored. I was turning into a damn doughnut, really. So I moved as far away from that as I could. I was done.

On wanting the best for his children: "Would it bother me if a child of mine turns out to be gay? No, not one bit. Listen, I want my kids to live the lives they want to live. I want them to be fulfilled. I hope I teach my kids to be who they really are."

On the secret stone grotto behind the waterfall in his pool: "[It's] a great place for sex."

I concur that gays should have the right to marry. The gay parents that I know are also some of the most loving and devoted.

And gay parents cant get pregnant on accident. So they have accurately accessed how much time, resourced and care it will take to raise children, and they have determined that they have enough of all three.

The fact that they can't do a single nice thing without immediately issuing a press release, giving a press conference, staging a photo-op or giving a thousand interviews to let EVERYONE know they just did something nice for someone makes me very suspicious. Besides, what else was Brad Pitt supposed to do? He has a huge female following and got caught cheating on his wife, America's girl next door or whatever. Do you think it's really a coincidence that he immediately ran to an orphanage three days after he got caught on a beach in Africa having a relationship he swore he wasn't having. This guy worries as much about his Brand as big corporations do.

Besides as they teach in business school these days, philanthropy is just a new form of capitalism. That why they have classes now that promote the motto: People, planet, profit. Just look at who is running many of these non-profits. Much of it is funded and run by big business people who know the new trend is to 'care' about people.

Did Brad Pitt's endorsement of gay marriage require that he engage in gay sex? Of course not. But when it comes to the question of people's right to smoke pot, his answer put it in the context of his own personal feeling of not wanting to smoke pot. How about an endorsement of pot legalization? By the way, I stay away from oysters, hate them, many of us stay away from oysters - but I wouldn't be silent if oyster-eaters were perceived as lawbreakers.

I don't like them either, but will eat them for their 'properties'. Great point though. It's about personal freedom. If someone wants to pick a flower and smoke it, I don't care what kind of flower it is. If someone wants to stick a cattail somewhere unusual, I'd think that was a bit peculiar, but to each their own. When it comes to things that are man-made (like meth, crack, etc.), there should be regulations, but they should be decriminalized also. Let people who can't handle their drug of choice overdose, it will help thin-out traffic and erase the addiction genes from the gene pool. For people who can handle their vices (natural ones), there is no need to regulate and definately no need to lock them up in prison and pay for their room and board. People who do things to others should be in prison, people who can't handle their drug of choice should be taken-out by their own devices, and people who can function properly and naturally should be allowed to do so. 100 years ago, all drugs were legal and nobody had a problem with it until they wanted to crack-down on minorities and their habits.
