WATCH: Inside Susan Boyle's Sexy Makeover

Susan Boyle last appeared on the 'Today Show' to discuss the giant wrecking ball of fame that sent her to a mental health clinic, but this morning the show did a happier segment on Boyle's glamorous high fashion shoot for Harper's Bazaar, in which she appears in the September issue.

"She was thrilled with the clothes," says Bazaar's Laura Brown. "She felt like a Hollywood star. She was so comfortable she actually did a bit of moonwalking in her Giuseppe Zanotti high heels."

Watch below as Boyle gets coiffed and made up, dons a sequinned dress and poses for her editorial spread.

She was always cute, even with her unplucked eyebrows and unruly hair.
A bit overweight, but that will be taken care of now that she's got a career and is moving about in the world.

It doesn't seem so much of a makeover as a "coming out" of her cocoon. Fly as high as you can little Scottish butterfly.

I really hope that this is the start of a successful and fulfilling musical career that doesn't overwhelm her with an excess of media coverage or pressure.

Unfortunately, I don't think that's going to happen, because by getting this makeover she's lost what grabbed people's attention in the first place -- her homeliness. She's gone from being the woman about whom everyone said in astonishment "You'd never know she could sing like that just by looking at her!" to being just another OK-looking singer with a decent voice among hundreds of thousands, all scrambling for a career in an ever-shrinking industry. Having lost the unique schtick she had (the extraordinarily plain, gauche girl who'd "never been kissed"), people are likely to get bored of her and her career will fade quickly.

To shine as a performer these days it's not enough to have a voice. Audiences want powerful stage presence and good looks. It's quite possible to become a professional singer these days if you're a great-looking girl without much of a voice, because a lot can be fixed in the studio with autotune and other effects, and most pop stars mime on stage these days anyway.

Ask yourself how many famous female singers can you name today that AREN'T also great looking? Then ask yourself, how many can you think of that can't really sing that well?

The thing that grabbed my attention was her exuberant personality, and that she apparently felt free to be herself. I think her voice is extraordinary and liken her to Julie Andrews. What you say about beauty/talent might be right on for the popular music scene, but she will never fit into that genre. Look at the stars of opera and Broadway. There are very few beauties with no talent there. Nell Carter was a big woman with an amazing voice, Mama Cass Elliot obviously was not gorgeous; Ella Fitzgerald . . . . . Granted that was in the day when people weren't so jaded, and looks were not the be all/end all of stardom.

I just love make up. Great lighting and professionals that know how to enhance a person's assets without making it look to over the top.
