Bing has finally announced the winner of its jingle contest -- hat tip to TechCrunch, who called it "the worst jingle ever." And the winner is..."Bing Goes The Internet" by Jonathan Mann. Mann has actually undertaken the task of writing a song every day for an entire year. Check out his YouTube channel and his website, Rockcookiebottom.

According to Bing's website, this is Mann's 202nd song, and it earned him $500 in prize money. For reasons that become obvious once you see the video, Bing has no plans to put this in a national ad campaign. Still, is this "the worst jingle ever?" Check out the video below.

Truly horrid. Not a bad melody, but the singing and dancing are grating and off-putting.

Most jingles are major key, not minor as this one. Minor key songs are usually associated with negative emotions, sadness, melancholy, etc. And the "Bing goes the internet" lyric is so insipid that I have a hard time believing it would be at all effective in changing my conscious decision to switch web browsers.

Microsoft has little to no chance of catching Google anytime soon, and this jingle would only decrease those chances.

I said web browsers, I meant search engines.

The worst jingle ever? Not by a long shot. Ther verses are terrible but the hook in the chorus, bing, bing, bing goes the internet. is catchy, and that is what a jingle is really about.

But if you doubt that there are worse one I have the following words "I wish I were an Oscar Meyer Weiner...."

This is not a jingle. A jingle creates a positive feeling of some kind, and you can remember it after you hear it.

Hmm. An article with no author asking us to 'check out' a commercial. Well, at least this kind of 'news' isn't exclusively about the iPhone anymore.

Steve Jobs summed it up many years ago. It's still true today. They have no taste.

Steve Jobs is absolutely right-- Microsoft has absolutely no taste. Also, they completely lack any imagination whatsoever. But even more disgusting, they have never had an idea they didn't steal from somebody else. That makes them "tasteless, unimaginative thieves." Their software is horrible, too.

Thought for a minute it would be a cowboy-style singer yodeling "B-i-i-ing" (I'll leave that up to your imagination).
